This is an excellent policy. As a dietitian I don't recommend food be used as a pass time anyway. We're not burning many calories just rolling dice and lifting our arms. Of course, I do value my physique and health and others may not value these as highly in comparison to eating for pleasure. To each their own. But yes, don't ruin my painted figurines and 30 year old game.

Depends how hysterical you find your mates failing to block or fumbling their movement rolls escaping petty goblins. Laughing can be a good calorie burn, especially when combined with intense evil stratergising.

I understand your sentiment and get you, but I strongly clinically disagree there is any significant need for calorie replacement from gaming over basic sedentary needs

Another card deck isn't that expensive. Personally I prefer them warn than new. I find sleeving a waste of plastic. They're not super rare cards from a crazy expensive collectors set. It's like those people that use to put plastic on their sofa in the 80's to keep it nice. Why buy a nice sofa in the first place, you want to experience the card in your hand, it's texture, otherwise we might as well have plastic cards.

There are definitely pros and cons!

Sleeving adds a little bulk, which adds up over the volume of cards in a deck. Sleeving can also make the cards hard to shuffle, and depending on the sleeve, they may be slippery or stick together with a little static.

Sleeving also keeps cards from being bent, and protects them from children's fingers, the stray pencil/pen/ink, and other mishaps.

You make a super point about the sofa, and I agree that I like the feel of paper cards and don't mind a little "patina" if you will.
However, for this game, I sleeved my cards to keep my old, hard to find, out-of-print game in good shape for another 30 years.

That's the remnants of about 5 decks, and there's another full deck in my game box. For the price of the sleeves, I'd just rather pay a few £ more for another deck, always popping up on ebay. Anycase, the only true way to expand HEROQUEST, is with more HEROQUEST.

1 pack of 100 sleeves is about 1 euros, ticker version (50 pieces) is 1,50.
UK cards are really common, I have a bout 10 decks in my collection but an Italian deck is usually sold around 40-60 euros!!

Yeah, my last reply was to defttitan USA, hence the quote. An Italian deck at 50 euros, I'd print my own or only play people who speak English. If the Italian version is that rare I guess it wasn't as popular in Italy or would the English version of sold there too? I'm a bit ignorant to how languages work when it comes to classic board games.

My sleeves justified themselves in the last gaming session... ring left behind from a "sweating" glass overlapped a card back (would have damaged it otherwise).
