Halberd for your mercenaries and hereos (and bad guy too!)

Here is a nice Halberd for "fixing" the mercenaries without changing anything in the Frozen Horror and other placed where the Halberied exists.

Halberd2.png

I've made this weapon with this rationale: it costs the same as a crossbow, because the Halberdier and the Crossbowman have the same price.
The crossbow is useful in a not crowded battle scene (or in a corridor), but the Halberd can be useful in a more tight scene (if a monster is in a corridor meelee with someone, the halberdier just in the square before is like having another attack with 2 dice: sometimes can be useful, without ruining the balance of the game).

And, the nice thing is, giving this weapon, you don't have to "modify" any rule as printed: the Halberdier cards and the Quest book rules have all in them. The only thing "missing" in both would be a "see armory", but better this than other edits or nerfs. Hope you like it!

EDIT: I've made another version of the card: now it costs like the crossbow and the longsword, but explicitily tells that you can not use a shield. So, you have to choice when shopping in the armory if you want a longsword (8 squares, adjacent and diagonal) and shield, or the halberd with 12 squares but no possibility of shield. Also, same price between crossbow and halberd means same price of mercenaries.

The old one:

This is perfect for some homebrew ideas of mine.

Wish I could do like swords and make a cheaper "Halberd" version that only does 1Att long range, 2Att close range. Problem is I can't figure out what that weapon would be, a Sarrisa? Long Staff? Three quarter staff? Naginata?

I need one for my game in the early quests.

My only problem with hero's using your Halberd though is that its better than the Long Sword & id have no problem saying it only has a 2Att at Long & Short range when in a hero's hands. This gives me a chance to give my Monk hero a plus +1Att bonus to it as his "special ability" weapon:)

But I understand you're using it for the mercenary & I like it.

You're right! I think I'll have to balance the card making it more pricey (like 400 gold)

Just realized the Halberd takes two hands to wield so you won't be able to use a Shield with it like you could a Long Sword, so perhaps they do even out a bit more than I thought.

Battle Masters men at arms would disagree.

Not 100% sure but I think in Warhammer fantasy first editions you could carry a polearm and a shield but it will only work against proyectiles, nor hand to hand.
I did a halberd as a weapon bit is just a 2 handed cheaper (250 coins) longsword. Maybe it can be added some shield use (proyectile, just 1st attack per round...).

Longsword is too good, in the end heroes need no other melee weapons with a shield.

I've made a small update to the halberd: it have the old price, but now you can not use the shield with it. So it's different enough from the longsword

I already have the halberd. 3 dice. Attacks diagonally. Two handed. 250.coins. Cant be used by the wizard.

Is just a cheaper longsword but you cant use shield. It cant be destoyed by normal Rust spell but by Twist wood.
