Proper refreshments....

Postby Theduckofdeath » April 2nd, 2017, 7:18 pm

What do you guys eat and drink while playing HQ? I tend to go for wine, beer and cheese plate. I figure Zargon, the Wizard, and elf enjoy good vintages. I feel the barbarian and dwarf are beer folk. I tend to drink Ravenswood Zin as the name and logo fit the HQ genre in my humble opinion. For our next game I would like to pair chimay Trappist ale with the chimay cheese. Have you folks ever done a theme for munchies and drink? What s your go to? Cheers! |_P :cheese:

I've never taken HQ that far, it's usually been more of a spontaneous 'set up & play' scenario, not a scheduled game night. D&D is another story. As DM I've asked players to bring their appetites & served all kinds of things they'd find at a tavern from soups to simmered veggies, blocks of cheese & meat jerky. I wrapped up rations as close to how it'd appear in the game too.
Unless you specify your version I'm going by the US rules.

Coffee and marijuana.
and food....gotta have food

Yeah but when I game I suck down the java beans and roast many bowls. Perfect blend for high adventures.

If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

We usually just drink cans of coke - coke in glasses fizzes too much and might damage the cardboard parts.
Also NO FREAKING FOOD AT THE TABLE! YOU AIN'T TOUCHING MY PAINTED MINIS WITH YOUR GREASY FINGERS!
Naah just kidding, I'm not like that. We mostly pour a bowl of candy.

Sorry for being absent last days...
This is quick to answer, so here we go:
No HQ group currently, but a somewhat regular Pen & Paper Rpg group.
There, the normal food is french fries - I bring them, the host fries them, with ketchup and mayonaise. Plus various salty nibbles.
Alcohol is not shunned, but normally we stay with soft drinks, as most of us have some way to drive home.
Sometimes the hosts serves something different.

Once upon a time, in an other group, I spent several hours preparing a meal based on original renaissance recipes.
Have a look ;)

Its usally cans of beer and halfling leaf :) Though not too much as the halfling leaf doth slow my mind and it can be hard to keep track of who's turn it is!

Then its crisps and maybe chocolate

But I think I may have to buy some of that mead!!! now I need some goblets! ;)
Please PM me if any of my old links to files are currently down. I am in the process of hosting them somewhere new!

Not HeroQuest, but last time my game group met, I made a big bowl full of chips (very thick fries if you're american), plus beer-battered onion rings & chestnut mushrooms.

Went down a treat with my players!
