Heroquest Video Games

Postby Infje » February 17th, 2013, 9:15 am

This has probably been answered dozens of times, but I can't seem to find it. There are multiple video game releases of Heroquest. I'm wondering, which quests do those video games use? If they are different from the board games, has anyone ever converted them?

The ones simply called "Hero Quest" is just a straight up conversion of the board game. Same quests, same monsters, nothing new.

Then we have "Hero Quest II - Legasy of Sorasil".
That's an entirely different game. It has more heroes, new monsters, spells, items and even new stats for the heroes, so it's not readily compatible with the board game.
Nephew of Mentor worked on a conversion in this thread: http://www.yeoldeinn.com/hqforum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=1112

They layout of some of the Game System quests are different in some of the games, but the loot and other notable items are essentially the same.

There is a prototype HQ game for the 8bit NES, but its only a ROM file. I've played it on my PC a dozen times, its pretty cool and just like the HQ boardgame, but I think it isn't a 100% complete game and will play only so far before it just stops. I could be wrong about it not being complete though.

Those are pretty cool, but it would be really neat if someone made a hot seat playable game for people out there. One that really looked like the original, showing cards being drawn, etc. Just my wish though...
