I had these flickering led lights left over from our pumpkin at halloween. Now naturally my imagination got a kickstart. I wonder if i can incorporate them into my heroquest board. Perhaps i could fit them into fireplaces or braziers etc.
Has anyone tried something similar?

I really hope those lights don't work out as I'd have to start my project all over again!

Progress has been slow but i almost finnished the 2nd quarter of the board now. The floors have been stained mud brown, moss and debris has been added. Just a few blood splatters to add and im there. Heres a couple of pics.

Just beautiful! The pillars against the walls... the moss...
This project amazes me time and time again.
An idea: try lichen instead of moss in places. Violetish/purplish or light blue with the same technique as the moss if you have the material.

Thanks KK, i will take the lichen idea on board.
What i really want to do is add a few cobwebs here and there, such as in the recesses or hanging from the pillars. I've been scratching my brains as to how to create this. I have a few ideas i want to explore, but dont want it to end up looking naff.

Thanks for the link. That voodoo guy is very clever, i must read more of his blog when i get spare time. I wonder how well those webs would stand up to game play as he says they are only fit for display purposes.
I dont own an airbrush, are they a good investment? I can see them being handy for priming and putting base coat on hirst art builds.

The first thing I would do if I wanted to invest in an airbrush would buy a cheap one around not more than 50 bucks for
- like you are suggesting - priming, as well as setting light/dark situations and quick drying while painting.
Especially for bigger projects.
For base-painting, as an alternative to airbrushing, I found really nice acrylic spraycans, Montana Gold.

There are experts on how and why to use airbrush, many of them making videos on youtube.

Looks really good so far. All the little details really make it shine.

Only real point of critique is the crystals. They need more contrast.
A simple way is to paint every facet in a gradient from light to dark in an angle. Keep the angel the same on every facet.
Finish it by adding a bright line at all the edges.
Look at this crystal I did a while back.

Thanks for the kind words and advice GK. I painted the crystals before i glued them into position. I see what u mean with that picture of that crystal you painted. I will have a go and try to improve mine.
