Completely unrealistic if I'm not single for some reason soon.

Well, nothing is set in stone.
The sole purpose of all this is to have fun for all participants, and everything we do should be agreed on. I just wrote down some points to start the "brainstorming".

This is of course also true for the duration.

I'm still for "more is more", but I'm all open for debate. Just let me explain my point in more detail:
- The costs and the organisation of the travel is an efford not to be underetimated and will probably not be made more than once by most participants, so we should make it worthwile.
- I would hope for us to play some great games of HQ, and this would probably mean an independent story arc. We could make more out of it when having more evenings.
- I have some great sights in mind that I'd like to show you. Definitely more than three. This is, of course, IF we do it at my place.
- No need to become single, bring your missus and / or family along. As mentioned, this is a tourist region, even if they are not interested in HQ, we can keep them happy. And as there are at least some children (my own), we'll arrange some kind of children care for the evening anyway.
- If some people don't have the time, but others would like to stay, there's no reason why everyone should leave at the same time. If 1 conentrated week + 1 relaxed week is unrealistic, we could make it 3 concentrated days + 3 medium days + 5 relaxed days, or whatever combination fits the various needs.

my :2cents:

QorDaq wrote:But it really does come down to cash, and as cool as it would be, there is no way I'd be comfortable having donations to help with such a trip. Rides and a couch surfing would not bother me, but airfare is crazy.
This. I rather had in mind people from greece or france. Would be a pity if anyone couldn't come just because of money, so I thought we could share the costs. But a flight from the Americas, even if divided by the numer of donators, is out of my financial scope (but if there is a realistic chance of convincing you to actually come, I will think this over again).

Maybe another meeting for the Americans is more realistic.

Anderas wrote:What about this plan:
I take my private A350 ACJ and fly around the world. I land where one of you lives, and you get on board.
5 star Dinner, Heroquesting and sleeping is on board. Each time we land, we take our time to visit the city over the day. In the end, each one of you will have made it one time around the world and i let you out where you were getting on board.

Travel time is the number of players in days. :)

Dreaming is nice! A week is likely not doable for me, too. But some days, i really would like.

I'm in.
You offered it, don't step back now.
Have a look ;)

I'm with Sjeng here - 2 weeks is absolutely out of the picture.

2-3 concentrated days is what I want to aim for. Though a single day might be too little after all.

I just started reading all this (the intro and the back page at least) 2 weeks seems like a good amount of time for this. But at the moment I wouldn't be able to participate. I'd probably be able to next summer though. If I can raise the money for a plane ticket out of America.

I'd say since the host is ready to make it a 2 week event, how about doing that.
But arrange a couple of days where the ones who can't spend that much time join in.

4 days of moderate questing and sightseeing with only the long-stayers
3 days of intense questing with everybody
7 days of moderate questing and sightseeing with only the long-stayers

Also in all seriousness...
Big Bene has you asked your wife if this is okay? :D

Yeah, an American Meetup would be cool too. I'd suggest something like at a Convention... Such as Dice Tower Con, never been and want to go at some point. Small enough to be social, but established enough to have a lot to offer.

That said, and as a separate part of the discussion, while 2017 is not likely for me, I would like to make it to Europe at some point any way, so if and when that happens, I'd certainly dig getting to meet up with some folks for some gaming. it's a very real possibility, just not quite so soon for me. In that scenario, I imagine myself traveling around a bit, so multiple smaller meetups would be reasonable.

maj! = Klingon word for "Good". Used in the context of "I approve".

Yes, I did, but actually, only after I was discussing this here for a while, so you really touched a point.
She was totally "why do you even ask? I gave my OK last year for 2016, so it's just as OK in 2017 of course".

Yes, something like this. If threre are actually people who want to stay...

You're welcome, by any means. But if you can make it 2017, it still would be cool to have you in the "big" meetup.
Have a look ;)

Or for 2038, the 25th anniversary of the announcement of the 25th anniversary edition by BlameZone.
I might have some money then. And a finished dungeon.
