Question about Rock Skin

I wouldn't play that Rock Skin could be compounded. As Ethica says, you either have it, or you don't. If Courage was stored in a spell ring and cast on a Hero, then cast again on the same Hero before they attack a monster they can see, I wouldn't count them as double-courageous. I would however, allow a Hero to drink multiple Potions of Defence/Resilience and Potions of Strength to compound an attack or defence.

Still fun to discuss different interpretations of the cards, quests and rules. I've altered a few of mine over the years after creating and reading discussions like this.

I agree with that. Compounding potions yes, compounding spells no.

Rock Skin

This spell may be cast on any
one Hero, including yourself. That

die when defending. the spell
is broken when the Hero
suffers 1 point of Body damage.

The implication is the spell can last a whole Quest, or even beyond, as drathe brought up in the OP.

You are right, I was remembering the spell wrong. So the stacked Rock Skin spells wouldn't be broken at the first fight, but only when a body Point is lost, which would be very difficult at defence 12...
But then again, it can be done, you can never be certain of dice. And remember, defending is only possible once per turn and monster. So the effect won't last.
Have a look ;)

Traps and hazards would also cause damage if they weren't careful to avoid searching for treasure and were carelessly moving about.

That is one reason why, if I was currently playing, I don't know if I would discount allowing them to stack the spell.
If they cast it at the end of one quest, and at the start of another...that's only two extra dice. Not that much. It would
take nearly half of the original quest book before they really got a large number of defense dice built up, if they continued
to stack it. And SURELY by then, they would've take at least one Body Point of damage, breaking it.

That's just me, though. As it has been said...Each Evil Wizard to his own, yes?

I always understood that the spells are reset to ZERO at the end of every quest; otherwise it would allow for too much stacking baloney. The heros go and rest in between each quest; so as they fall asleep and lose their concentration, the spell is broken anyway.

The original rules seem to leave some room for interpretation, so it's up to the evil wizard to allow stacking spells or not. We merely discussed the consequences of allowing it in terms of game statistics. Of course, when you choose to allow or disallow it, you still can make up an ingame explanation for why magic works the way it does.
The neccessity to hold up concentration is one possible explanation for spells beeing lost between quests (i. e. non stacking). You could think of other ingame explanations, for possibility or the impossibility of stacking likewise.
This alone doesn't make one choice better than the other.
Have a look ;)

True, some spells such as curses can last indefinately even after the magic user has died.

You also cannot cumulate several time the effect of a spell.
If you cast body rock on a character, he already has it so impossible to cast it a second time even with a ring.
It's logical. When you play wow lineage 2 or aion, you cast one defence spell and you cannot cumulate it with the same spell again until the first ends.
I think it's the same.
