Ye Olde Inn 25th Anniversary HeroQuest quest pack

Brainstorming topics for the HeroQuest 25th Anniversary Quest Pack.

Let's not forget how MotM gave us elves, ogres and wolves.
tFH gave us polar warbears, ice gremlins and yetis.

We are by no means bound by the established Warhammer universe. We could add beholders, displacer beasts and eye-bats for all I care :)
Honestly I think counting simple weapon variations is a little weak in regard to adding something "new". in my opinion a simple quest-note is enough to give certain monsters certain weapons. That's free content.
I'm not saying we can't do anything with orcs - at ALL; because orcs are badass - but what I'd most like to see is exactly what the NA packs did. Adding a theme of something completely new.

But I'm mostly into adding new monsters if we actually make models of them. How cool wouldn't it be if you could buy a "Ye Olde Inn Hero Quest 25. anniversary monster pack". Just 5 models perhaps? 2 skaven warriors, a seer and 2 assassins.

Just throwing balls in the air here. It's great to get all these thoughts out before we even write the first quest.

@ TMU - In that case we would have to include a snötlliing model

That would work. Changing the perspective of that intro from us to our children would be relatively easy..

Thrawn wrote:Chaos done right needs mostly outside models really...but we could do warriors/marauders around each god...

So it is a shame that there was never an official release based on the grey miniatures.
Would spells and abilities based around each Chaos God work?

TMU wrote:How about this, everyone that makes a quest, includes HIMSELF in to the quest. In a way or another, Wouldn't that be cool?

Not a bad idea, but I'm not sure how we all would do it.

I would really like to get involved in this project also

I agree with the idea of targeting the children of the heroes from the original quest and also the idea of the first quest being the coming together of the group of young heroes.

I am liking the idea of Skaven, and incorporating the four chaos gods would be great.

Also what about Elementals, perhaps we could bring in the four elementals which I've seen in other quests?

As far as adventure structure, to keep things moving during 25 quests, what about a structure along the lines of...
Part 1: Introduction...ends with confrontation with whatever the great evil is.
Part 2-5: Recovering the necessary magic items or artifacts to defeat the evil. (Basically, make sure 1 artifact is valuable for each of the 4 heroes, and combine their power for something bigger, perhaps they give party effects instead of just a boost for 1 character?)
Part 6: Confront the great evil.

If each part is 4 quests, that would make 24...however, I figure each mini-storyline can be 3-4, allowing for more 1 off quests. It also means a major objective part of the story gets hit on fairly short intervals.

I think the idea was to make sure that it could be played using the original boxed set, so my giant list was trying to mostly point out things that can be done with simple quest notes and existing models, vs creatures that really would need different models. If the decision is to not limit models to the base set, that opens up a lot more obviously. On the other hand, it lowers the number of players who have access to all the models. I'm not a fan of putting any special model packs for sale however, even at cost. I think this should be pure print and play. If we decided cardboard standups are acceptable (with suggestions for alternate minis) that would also open things up.

The warhammer universe is nice just because that is where the original adventures are set loosely.

Anyway the reminder is the original creatures are:
8 orcs
6 goblins
3 fimir
4 chaos warriors
1 chaos warlock
1 gargoyle
4 skeletons
2 zombies
2 mummies

Just throwing balls in the air here. It's great to get all these thoughts out before we even write the first quest.

That's exactly why I wanted my big monster post in this thread. Good to agree on our ground rules before any quests get written.

That's the direction I'm thinking. Adding abilities from the different chaos gods to specific models on specific quests. It will give some nice variations.

I'll also go as far as to say, that could be the "ultimate" evil as well. 4 chaos champions, each representing 1 of the gods of chaos, joined together to summon a great host of demons from the north in a combined ritual. A fight against 4 chaos warriors is one of the deadliest things you can put up in the game (and it comes with 4!). Upgrading those warriors into champions with special powers associated with each of the 4 chaos gods, would make them a pretty big finale.

Not a bad idea, but I'm not sure how we all would do it.

It wouldn't have to be a model, it could simply be a quest called "The lair of the Goblin-King" or something like that :) In your case RW we would of course take a model called "The Road Warrior" ;) Do you get my idea? This wouldn't be in all the quests, just one for each maker. :P

I like the idea of more chaos themed villains and monsters.. although my attempt so far at creating some for my expansion is terrible at best.. I am still trying to work out a way, where the players are being stalked by a darker force, they cannot be defeated until the main villain has been slain.. how would this idea work out in everyones opinion.. too much? Would it really work within the game or a smaller expansion? :)
