Gatchaman got localized in the West relatively harmlessly. Macross, Southern Cross and Mospeada all got amalgamated into the not-as-good Robotek. Each of the three series was produced by the same group, but none were in an actual sequence. They were Super Dimensional Fortress Macross(super-dimensional basically trying to describe its great size), Super Dimensional Century Orguss (this time dimension describes a material plane of existence), Super Dimensional Cavalry Southern-Cross (dimension now describing armor-related changes to the human form) and Genesis Climber Mospeada (sans-super dimensionality). Orguss, the best of them, had too much sex and shooting people in it. Plus, since it took place in a Gestalt dimension, there were basically only two human characters (that scored with rocking space nomad hippy chicks).

The Macross part of Robotech was pretty good by itself. Southern Cross bit the big one and made me not care about the rest.

That's what happens when shows get fraggled up by *Play-Doh Factories*. Southern Cross would have been welcomed great as a successor to Macross, even without a story connection.

Years ago, I seen original series the Robotech franchise were based on. Besides Minmi being a Chinese foreigner like like Shampoo from Ramna 1/2 and many of the name-changes, Macross did not change much. Southerncross was radically altered in plot and background. The Robotech version would have made more sense if they were an outpost colony on some other world. MOSPEADA was changed in background, but the plot remained the same. With Macross, I feel about the same with them both. I like Japanese Southerncross more, but for some reason, I like New Generation more then MOSPEADA. Oh and the Robotech theme is the best theme of all!

I recently seen the newer remastered and unabridged (a mean uncensored and uncut, not a fandub parody) Robotech series in it entirety on Toonami Aftermath (sorry, there server seems to be down). Beyond the added violence and (tasteful) nudity, there was not a big change to the background, plot, or voice work. They also altered the opening to show the original footage with the Robotech theme song.

I have been meaning to watch Orguss, but I have been trying to catch-up on other things. From what I have seen, it looks like a softcore version of RIFTS. (How can I pass that up something that wild?)

Since Ranma 1/2 has been brought up, I'll care enough to mention that its very-probably the best anime series ever made.

Yes, Maja the Bee, spelled with a j here. But it fraggles a six-year-old up when he gets the feeling there's something wrong about Flip. The same feeling that comes up years later when the neighbor's cat lifts his tail on you and seems to look at you like you were a whore... but that's another story. Clearly, Willi, Maja's best friend, is in love with her. Maja is in love with Flip the grasshopper, however. Love is not a request programme. And it gets worse. Flip loves Willi. Gayly so. There was ongoing gayness in that series and no one noticed. It's really funny wathcing the series in knowledge and not just that feeling...

Anyone ever watched Æon Flux on MTV?
Great cartoon or greatest cartoon?

You seem to forget "Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin" or "Silver". It was hugely popular in Denmark!

Aeon Flux was cool, and I also liked the MAXX. I wish I had been able to see more of those japanese series back then. But I was also stuck with Maja the Bee, Löwenzahn, Pumuckl, Fraggles, Snorkels, Smurfs, Der Maulwurf etc. on German channels.
