Cards, tiles etc: what kind of paper?

Howdy folks!

Quick question; on what kind of paper do you print the PDF cards/tiles?

I don't want to print it on photopaper and yes, my fancy pansy printer can print doublesided.

(Here in the Netherlands paper goes by weight by the way, maybe Sjeng (oan de geng dutch joke) can give the much needed answer? )

I printed on a4 laser paper 210g. But should be fine at 120g. If you want to get the original look of the cards, that's another story ! You should use bristol paper and make craft job.. I'll try to find you the link back !

I just printed them on regular office printerpaper. I have an inkjet printer (canon pixma 560), and I printed the front and backs on seperate sheets, glued them together with Pritt, cut them out with a slide-cutter (papiersnijder), cut the round edges with an edge-cutter (hoekenpons), and then laminated them

Has anybody tried this product? I am waiting on an email about the card thickness. They are the same dimensions as the US cards, so I am hopeful.

Also, it looks like it would fit the template. That would be nice.

They say 285 gsm. Sounds promising. Now, the question is, should I look forward to matte or coatable? Also, how many cards are there between all the packs?

At my local FedEx I just asked for "glossy card stock" and it turned out absolutely perfect. The players could not tell the difference between the printed cards and the original ones.

I usually take in one of the cards or tiles and say, "I want it on this type of stock."

I printed out some cards for Talisman last year (one of the old editions). I'd picked up a ream of gloss adhesive paper, and ended up printing each card side on a separate page, and sticking them onto some light cardstock I bought. The result was actually pretty good. The adhesive paper is fairly thick anyways, and the double layer and cardstock core gives it enough strength to not feel doughy. While the gloss can be a little overpowering compared to the semi gloss finish on the Talisman cards, it's good enough to pass at a glance.

I have yet to find a thick enough cardstock (even at print shops) that can be fed through a consumer printer. Plus, printing double sided never seems to line up right.

As for tiles, I've had good experience with that adhesive paper mounted on matte board. I got the paper when i was doing a lot of print and play games, and alternated between matte board and some non-corrugated cardboard a friend got me. The matte board might be comically thick for HeroQuest, but using a cereal box or something similar would work well.
