But Sjeng is right insofar as the European rules are like he describes.
EU rules are the weirdos here.
I hate them sometimes, like in this case.
There's a reason I'm writing down rules for myself and me.

You can use multiple falling block traps to trigger one after another to create some kind of means to force a hero somewhere they don't want to be. Or, you could have a special room with multiple falling block traps arranged like some kind of puzzle or maze, that a clue to the clear path through was available earlier in the quest.

What if the traps are aranged in such a way there is literaly no where to go like geting backed into a corner? Go to that corner and the last stone trap falls.

Or use a Ring of Return. Are there other ways?

Maybe a Wall of Stone spell from WoM could save you, but I don't know how you'd escape from a corner. I'd roll trap damage against it, and if it was still standing the Hero isn't buried under the block.

The Future Sight spell from WoM allows rerolls of red movement dice. Maybe the Hero could avoid moving onto the trap in the first place.

The spell Flashback from the EQP should certainly work. It lets you replay a turn, and casting this doesn't even take an action.

Future Sight would be an option, but only if the Hero moved, found himself trapped, and then uses his action by casting the spell.
Or may a red die from the previous turn be re-rolled as well?

I don't think Future Sight would be of any use because the effects are applied to your next turn, and also because all it allows you to do is reroll dice, you can't take back your move.

The only spells that are of use are flashback, pass through rock and teleport (and the ring of return of course). As long as you hadn't already been crushed. Bit of a gamble to force some hero into this position, could be the barbarian, who has no such spells.

Falling Blocks and nowhere to go?

Postby The Admiral » March 17th, 2018, 9:32 am

[This and the following post were moved from Board index ‹ HeroQuest Rooms ‹ General HeroQuest Discussion on 4/16/18. -edit]

If a Hero triggers a falling block trap and all adjacent spaces are occupied, then in the EU rules the Hero is dead. There is no such specification in the NA rules. What do players do? Kill the Hero or allow them to move to the nearest available vacant space?

The Hero is dead.

If the evil Wizard player is kind and allows the Hero to escape to the nearest available space, really it should be the model that is adjacent that gets pushed to that space, and the Hero who triggered the trap displaces the other model. Both should take damage from the force of the event.

I'd be happy with both rules, but whatever rule is chosen it needs to stay consistent across games or people will get annoyed and think it's unfair.
