Well, you wouldn't want a rub-down AFTER being succoured, would you? Thanks for your kind words, Sjeng. |_P

Return of the Janitor
When Our Heroes found themselves outside the walls of Sir Ragnars’ Castle, they felt tired and unhappy about the whole episode. The Janitor had escaped from them, how were they to tell the King that they had failed? They decided to leave the Kingdom, and take some holiday, before facing up to the King.
The Janitor spies have told him of these proceedings, and he has returned to Sir Ragnars abandoned Castle. He has kidnapped the fair Princess Xara, and is making her do unspeakable things, like washing the Malcontents and Ne’er-do-wells clothes, and peel vegetables in the kitchens. The King has called on a new bunch of Heroes to enter the stronghold, and save the Princess from a fate worse than death. He said, “Bring back his head, or do not bother to return”. The Janitor was weakened in the last great battle, but has a powerful new ally, so tread cautiously.

Wobort the Warrior, Zarman, a cloaked assassin, T’mato the Conjurer and Renew, a sort of Pygmy Elf, form our band of Heroes for the Quest. The Heroes rush in to Ragnars’ Castle, Wobort steps on a Gin Trap, which spangs down on his foot. He has to cast away one weapon to limp on. Zarman is first in the Loo.
pic1.jpg

He rolls a Skull, so has to miss a turn to make use of the Facilities. A White Shield would have turned up Nothing, a Black, Fifty Gold Coins. T’mato conjures up a Henchman, who fires his bow at one of the castles guards, a Ne’er do well Halberdier. The attack is a complete miss, so as a New House Rule states, “If the attack is a miss, all Heroes duck, and roll one Combat Dice. First Skull up,is hit by the wayward arrow, and loses a Body Point. This falls to Wobort.
We journey on, Wobort finds the Werewolf’s Lair. He rolls a skull, so is not bitten. He attacks the beast with his monstrous Sword, and claims two BP. Renew, the Pygmy Elf attacks with The Genie, and the W/W is down.
pic2.jpg

Wobort find the Ragnar Family Ossary, tended by the Screaming Skull. On the Skulls’ turn, he summons a Skeleton, from the El_Flesh Bureau of Hired Assassins. Skull attacks Wobort, 4 hits! He has no defence, not one White Shield. The other Heroes rush to his aid. The SS and his hireling fall in this attack.
pic2a.jpg

. T’mato finds the Janitors’ Lair, plays Veil-of-mist on Zarman, turns and runs for his life. Renew moves to the Lairs’ doorway, casts Ball of Flame on the Janitor, he loses 1 BP. Zarman rushes in, attacks the Janitor. He responds with Zero Limescale, and negates the attack. The Janitor attacks the Elf with Total Blast.
pic3.jpg

T’mato casts Pass-Through-Rock on Wobort, and he enters the Lair and attacks a Malcontent, complete miss! Renew the Pygmy Elf casts Tempest on the Janitor, Zarman attacks him too, three hits! Janitor rolls to defend, no black shields! He is down to two Body Points. He immediately casts down his equipment and abjectly surrenders! The Malcontents and Ne’er do wells fight on. Wobert succumbs to their attacks, whilst the Janitor cowers in a corner. The other Heroes suffer cuts and bruises, T’mato uses a Magic Spray he found earlier, on Wobort, and he is revived. He arises with two body points. The battle rages on, Tit for Tat. Wobort decides not to attack on his turn, instead opens a door, and finds the Princess in a cell. The last serfs fall, the heroes find the Emergency Exit, and emerge free, into the Sunlight, with the Princess, and the Janitor, to more Fame and Glory. The Janitor is sent for Counselling, and Community Serving, and as a reformed character, joins the Heroes. He lives on!

We played one of the Kellars Keep Quests on Sunday, Puck was GM. The Great Citadel, with some tweaks.
Wallace, Bar-dun, Pustillence and the Janitor were Our Heroes. In the first room, Pustillence is attacked by an Orc,
pick 1.jpg

Thankfully, no damage. Wallace forces the door in room A , searches & finds a Potion of Healing. The other two heroes roll low movement scores. Pustillence, whilst searching, picks up a Poison card from the treasure pile. Just his luck. He moves on, opens a door and steps on a Gin Trap.( Roll one combat dice, if not a White shield, leave a piece of armour or a weapon behind, as the one trapped is limping with a sore foot).
pic 2.jpg

Pusillence is OK, his luck has changed. Janitor opens a door, finds two Pinko Skeletons, he casts Grot Buster on the first, but the Pinko defends well.
pick 3.jpg

The Pinkos attack, but Janitor survives, so they turn & flee. He attacks again, on his turn, but the Pinko again defends well. They riposte, but he does The Boston Two-step & wards off their blows. He cannot catch them as they flee, so turns away. Wallace goes into the Pinkos room & searches a grave. It is a trap, he loses a Body Point from a dart that flies up & impales him. Bar-Dun makes a magic pass on a Pinko, with Fire of Wrath. It collapses into a pile of bones & dust. The other Pinko continues to run. We move on, the Janitor opens a door & reveals an Armed Mummie, a Zombie and a Tomb. He wallops the Mummie, down it goes. Bar-dun is heading to join his pals, and sees that lower corridor filled with monsters, so keeps moving. The fight goes on. Wallace kills the Zombie & searches the Tomb. A WM leaps out, a Firmir, & attacks him. Wallace ripostes. The Monsters come charging in. Janitor comes under attack, he plays Zero Limescale, and the attack is negated. Our heroes fight on, backs to the wall, metaphorically speaking. Bar-dun finds the exit, decides Discretion is the better part of Valour, and leaves the building. Janitor attacks & flees. Pustillence leaves the scene. Janitor passes Wallace and casts Sink Unblocker. Wallace is Last Man Standing, and is hit again, but manages to reach the Exit. The Quest is un-finished, so we will be forced to return!

I can SEE the nice citrus smell of the janitor there on the GM shield.

I wouldn't want him on my team - I think he might turn on us at any moment. I can guarantee that Georgeous would kill him in an instant, and so would I.

...in fact, the only one who might accept him would be Zebs of Dooooomm

He did pretty well on his first Quest, pouched 120 Gold. Trouble was, he didn't know what to do with it, so tossed a doubloon, Heads, Arms & Equipment, Tails, Wine, Women & Song. Guess which came down ?

heads - which he saw as he caught it. So he flipped it over onto his forearm and took his hand away. "Oh look! Tails!"
