I'm in Australia, so preordered from Zing (they are part of EB Games, which is Gamestop over here) and they are scheduled for release in February 2022. I can live with that, and am just glad I managed to order them as they presold out within hours here!

Anyone looking at supply issues, I would be very likely to point the finger at Hasbro over Gamestop, personally.

EB Games (again, Gamestop here) have always been pretty great to me as a company... though maybe they're different in the US?

Hasbro, on the other hand... I'm also a Transformers collector (only started a few years back) and genuinely regret getting into collecting them now with the way Hasbro have treated customers of late. Half their range are exclusive to US-only stores (meaning no way to get them in Australia at all, except via scalpers on eBay). Their Pulse service doesn't ship overseas. They have very limited runs of figures and tend to sell out within a day or even hours. Quality control is also pretty poor.

I only even got because EB Games stepped up and got involved as a "middleman" for HasLab stuff (HasLab otherwise won't let us Aussies back anything directly).

I say all this because my biggest fear going forward with the HQ rerelease is that Hasbro start the same nonsense with the HQ line, releasing expansions and mini-expansions as exclusives to various stores like Walmart, Target, Gamestop, Walgreens (?!) and Amazon, and in limited quantities. This rerelease should be about finally making everything widely available, but already we have people scalping the Guardian Knights and customers who backed and thus made the whole rerelease happen now desperately searching for (or at best, waiting for restock) of the first non-HasLab HQ release.

Ah, good tip there for ordering from Zing for Aussies I'll add that to the where to buy post I made.

I agree with you about being against exclusives and the scalping it encourages, bad for business reputation and ruins the community in my view for those of us who like to actually play games for enjoyment rather than just collect and re-sell boxes.

HeroQuest was always meant to be for the masses... and should be available in retail stores as widely as possible, just like in the old days.

My brother and I ordered ours, but the place we ordered it from is sold out. We kinda have a policy to not publicly say anything about where we got items scalpers are after; the only people it truly helps are the scalpers, and we wanna keep them from finding out as much as possible.

So if any of the new expansions get sold somewhere and we get them even while scalpers are after them, we say nothing on where we got them...unless we somehow got them from a place like GameStop where that's one of the first places on the scalpers' hitlist, in which case we got extremely lucky.

Well since Gamestop is free game - Gamestop.ca just opened preorders, but not sure if they ship outside of canada. Just ordered mine, just in case.

I got my knights last night. I haven't had time to play them because of work, but me and my brother both agreed we should play them once we have time off.

I made two knights; one I take seriously, and one that exists solely to test custom maps to make sure they don't fall apart.

I just received an email from Element Games, where I was able to order an additional Guardian Knights set from the UK, that we will not be getting ours. Heres the text:

"I am reaching out to you regarding an outstanding order you have which contains the HeroQuest Hero Collection Commander of the Guardian Knights Asmodee Exclusive.

Unfortunately, Asmodee have now informed us that we will not be receiving our initial allocation of this item and cannot confirm that it will be available again in the future. We apologise for not being able to provide this information sooner. As such, we are happy to offer you a full refund or exchange on your order, just let us know how you would like to proceed as well as your order number and we will process this for you immediately."

Bummer. I hope Gamestop doesn't do the same thing, but I am not holding my breath.

I just don't get this Nintendo style of sales. Does Avalon Hill / Hasbro just not like money? Stuff on ships I can understand, but are they really underestimating demand this badly?

That sux. Well I hope Hasbro realizes this situation will just encourage more scalping and bootlegging... and serves as a lesson for their next release.

So did anyone who ordered from Gamestop actually get one?

Mine also says Jan 23 now, but everyone who says they got theirs here and elsewhere ordered it from someplace else.
