Yes, I know. check the pinned comment where that is expressed. ;)
EDIT: Rogar's Hall linked in the description has now been edited to include "G", as well as correct several typos.

I'm not surprised a generic warrior was used for the Dread Sleep Spell Card art. I hope that not only allows for, but also foreshadows the inclusion of Mercenaries in a future expansion reprint.

According to an email I just got from HasLab, production of the new edition of HeroQuest chugs on. Pictures of a Barbarian, Gargoyle, combat dice and red d6s were shows. No ETA yet, but hopefully by early Fall!

Got it as well. I am liking what I am seeing.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

Credit for posting about it so quickly! I had forgotten to check my own mail and see that we all got it...

The preview video and pics on the website showed the dice with rounded corners like the originals (and inscribed too not just painted on), these square things are different...

Looking much more generic and boring if you ask me!

And generic white pips on the movement dice is also unacceptable. Why even bother putting out those photos if you're going to show crap? :p

* I * could make better looking dice than in that photo and I don't need millions of dollars to do it...

This is surely a test to see how much we will let them get away with. Now we see how small the bases actually are, and it looks like they'll be pretty easy to shave off with a razor blade to attach to a proper "square" (squeezed hexagon) base.

I don't know if that inbox is monitored, but I responded back with some words of my own. Here is what I said... unedited.

Dear Hasbro Pulse,

With all due respect and honestly: These dice look very terrible and unworthy of the project you've started and I've supported.

The dice in the video had rounded corners (like the originals) but these are just boring cubes. Why did you even bother putting out this amateurish looking picture?
No offense, but I could make better looking dice for a few dollars. I sincerely hope the "final version" won't look so low budget and crappy.

Same for those red dice... why are they square instead of rounded as in the "3d image" on the website? Why are the pips white instead of gold?

I hate the round bases on the miniatures. Even though the HeroQuest prototype used round bases, we have all used square (actually squeezed hexagonal) bases all these years. Many of us plan to cut those bases off and glue them onto more square bases, so you could save us the trouble!

I look forward to this project, but this photo got me worried that the quality standards have dropped. My friends in the community won't be happy to see this either.

I don't just speak for myself when I say these things but a lot of like-minded classic Hero Quest fans who backed the project.

The Dice should have the images inscribed (or engraved) and not just painted, and sealed so that the color doesn't wear off through vigorous usage like the originals.

And another thing, what about those cards? What size are they? Will they have plastic coated finish?
(Word has it the HeroQuest Card Game was of very cheap quality, with ink coming off on people's hands and the dice were just stickers).

Will there be a Potions deck?

Shouldn't Holy Water (you can't buy a blessing!) and Potion of Speed be "Treasure" and not "Equipment"? We want more details! Please, if you are going to share stuff, make it helpful to those of us who care about this game and not stuff that is going to make us worry that quality is slipping.

Also many people are upset about the Orc Bard, they feel like this character doesn't fit into the universe. They want him either to be completely optional or have a darned good explanation of why he exists in the world and isn't just there as a joke. Surely the creative minds there can come up with something that doesn't break the universe?

I wish you were able to get together with Games Workshop and have proper Fimirs and Chaos Warriors, that I would love to see! Perhaps in a future expansion or booster pack? I want to see the Elf and Barbarian Quest packs playtested and the glitches fixed and those remade and the Against the Ogre Horde and Wizard of Morcar too! As long as you are listening, that is what the fans want.

And we want it sold in regular stores so that the common person can see them, not just elite game shops or from the website. The classic Hero Quest could be bought at big box retail stores and that got a whole generation playing, that never cared about dungeons and dragons or elite hardcore rpgs hidden away in comic shops.

HeroQuest is not just a "gateway" to other types of games, it is a thing in and of itself, but it can serve as a "gateway" if you make it easy for the average board game player or casual player to find it, and experience it the way it was meant to be experienced.

Good luck... this project has a long way to go I think. Don't shut us out because some of the things we say are negative. We want to like the product, but we don't want compromised quality. Too many good franchises have been ruined by unnecessary changes and you were on the right track. A few more tweaks and good decisions and this could really be something spectacular!

PS: I will never use twitter, so talk to me here. Thanks!

With all due respect,

[redacted]

They look like dice pulled out of Monopoly. Nothing special for this game.

Why do I get the impression that nobody at Hasbro was expecting the fundraiser to actually BE a success, and thus have an army of fans scrutinising the who damn thing before they realised there would be ACTUAL work involved, requiring substantial quality...

At least the dice don't look like you have to put stickers on them first, so there's that...

Can we begin to worry now, Kurgan? :P
