Hey, here's another Monster, I've rotated his arms slightly and taken the weapon out of his hand! big whoop.

Yeah, you're just getting more plastic at this point, congrats.

I guess I'm going to have to listen to this entire Q&A and transcribe the answers here. So there are 20 new quests, not 28? It's only 6:16... so won't be hard.

As others have pointed out, it sounds VERY scripted. I realize these are not professional youtubers or actors, but wow, yeah. Just make a good game, guys!

Also, I don't use Twitter and I'm not signing up just for the next 48 hours. Thanks for submitting my question.

I’m more interested in the female chaos warlock model aka Kessandria.

That Q&A on Youtube...

Postby Kurgan » November 5th, 2020, 2:04 pm

It sounds like they typed up all their responses beforehand and just read them off. Still, nice to get a little bit more info, but it sounded very tightly controlled and not very transparent. I'd rather see a page or two scanned from the rulebook than just a guy saying something generic about it personally, but anyway...

These aren't exact quotes, I have tried to faithfully paraphrase the info given in the video, however.

:redorb: Questions and Answers from Patrick (Brand Manager, glasses), Brian (VP Design & Development, glasses, bald), and Doug (Game Designer, beard) posted on yesterday (11/4/20) :redorb:

Q: Will there be a Zargon App to have an automated dungeon master?
A: This technology didn't exist when the game was first made, but if enough people want it, we'll start to research to see how we could do something like that.

Q: Mythic Tier was supposed to include 28 quests was this a mistake?
A: Yes it's an error. The two expansions [assume he means KK & ROTWL] only include 20 quests.

Q: Will there be reprints of the other Expansions?
A: Tell us what you want and post it on Twitter, we'll see what's possible and get it to you. "We won't stop" (implying new material could get made in the future, but no specifics)

Q: Will there be gender swaps of the Stretch Heroes?
A: No plans at this time. Let us know if you are interested in this.

Q: Do we still get the blank map to make our own scenarios?
A: Yes.

Q: Are the minis detachable from their bases?
A: No.

Q: What happens to any un-met Stretch goals? Will you be able to purchase them separately later?
A: No plans to do anything with the Stretch goals after the campaign ends so if you want 'em now is the time to unlock them.

Q: Will the new minis be on sprues?
A: NO assembly will be required, they will all come pre-assembled.

Q: What are the minor changes to the rules?
A: Clarified rules, such as Line of sight. When Zargon places monsters, they will be placed behind other monsters. He doesn't go into detail.

Q: Can multiple players buy the same item or is it limited to cards?
A: Purchasing items is not limited to the cards. We ARE providing extra cards of certain popular items just for those players who like to have a card in front of them.

Q: Are the miniatures made of softer, more flexible plastic?
A: (shows sample from factory) It's won't sag or bend on its own but if you apply force you can wiggle it a little (Doug wiggles axe on dwarf with his thumb).

Q: What's in the Treasure deck?
A: Same 24 cards as in the US Treasure deck.

Q: How does the Equipment compare to the original NA release?
A: Some new things have been added. "We've made some additions to the Armory... there you will find the Hand Axe, Holy Water, Bracers and Potion of Speed. We're also adding a few new Artifacts from our Stretch Goal quest books to your Artifact Deck." [He didn't mention the Cloak or Spear]

Q: Will there be character art on the Spell card backs?
A: Yes. But now with the standardized card size, you can use sleeves on all your heroquest cards.

Q: How tall are the miniatures?
A: On average 30 mm from toes to eye level but it will vary from one to the other.

So there you go. Buying Holy Water? (wrong! Maybe you're donating to the Chapel you got it from? buying the Cleric who blessed it a sandwich?).
Then again since these are just cards, purists can just mix them into the Treasure deck to simulate something akin to the EU deck.

The miniature "average" height is only a few mm taller than the Barbarian (but shorter than the Gargoyle). I wasn't too worried about the scale. The new miniatures are mainly done in a cartoonish, exaggerated (or "anime") style compared to Classic.

Going by what he said above, the NA Treasure deck includes:
24 Cards in total.

2x Gem! (35 gold)
2x Gold! (15 gold)
2x Gold! (25 gold)
2x Hazard! (hidden arrow)
2x Hazard! (shallow hole)
Heroic Brew
2x Jewels! (50 gold)
Potion of Defense
3x Potion of Healing (1 Red Die)
Potion of Strength
6x Wandering Monster

UNANSWERED (unasked?) QUESTIONS:

So we don't know the dimensions of the cards.

We don't know precisely what's in the Equipment Deck, just that it's based on the NA Armory with at least two EU Treasures and two EU Equipments added in.

We don't know how many Quests are in the two new "unlock" books (just that each has more than one... and we don't know if that free training Quest, "Rogar's Hall" is one of them or what).

We don't know the precise changes in the Instructions rulebook. We can expect "clarifications."

We don't know what the new Artifacts (from the new Quest books) will be.

Also a small thing... what about the furniture? I presume these are pre-assembled as well. So what do we do with the Rats and skulls? Are they just debris to drop on the board for no reason (serve as makeshift markers or tokens?) or can they be bolted onto a piece of furniture to dress it up as in Classic Hero Quest? In the original game the scales on the Alchemist Bench were not even bolted on. So little details like that are not clear yet.

IF the bases are non-removable (as they said) it may be that they are pre-glued on, or it may be that they're integrated into the whole mould. In the first case the glue could be stripped off with chemicals, in the second you could saw/cut the character off its base, in order to re-base. I see that 1x1 inch square bases are available from ReaperMini.com for example, there's the cheaper uxcell end caps to homebrew your own, Zealot Miniature bases, etc.

I noticed they have posted no new updates in a while. There's been nothing on the news section of their page since they posted Roger's Hall.

The painting series seems to have died off. They promised weekly posts by Brian Wilk to showcase the new minis painted.

Hey I know how it can happen. Run out of the colors you need, brush gets damaged... hands hurt. Somebody asks you to help with yardwork/cleaning...

Which begs the question. What do you think of WizKids miniatures with heroquest (either old or new version)? I'm trying to find a good Kessandria model, but so far I find stuff out of scale (erelal freth miniature from D&D), undead-related-but-not-an-undead (pathfinder deep cuts necromancers)...

Any good suggestion?

Okay I don't see 4 million happening at this point which is a real shame as joes quest pack is what I'd be interested in now.
But I'm sure it could be a decent expansion just toss in a few more orcs and a couple treasure cards.
Oh well let's see what the day brings.

indeed. At this point, 3.4 looks highly likely. 3.6 less so (But that figure would be a great Kessandria...).

Roll Green Stuff into two small balls... once the "breastplate" is dried, paint as appropriate, then apply a little rubber cement (now it's removable!).
Or you can go the "Ms. Pac-Man" route and create a little bow...

I agree that WizKidz (Deep Cuts, primarily Pathfinder) do seem to be the closest in terms of style to the Remake miniatures.

Click on Full List (of unpainted miniatures and type "female" (without quotes) or "elf" into the search. You'll find a lot of results...

Doesn't seem like you can find a figure that is not either brandishing a weapon or has at least one hand full of "magic energy." For something like that I'd go with Reaper Bones.
