Agreed that "big" monsters were a convention of the EQP/BQP that were only released in the US and they have made no indication will be remade. Just makes it easier to flank, I guess...
I am fine with it being a small medieval dragon, as opposed to a modern "D&D" Dragon that is the size of a house (or Godzilla) and thus ridiculous for four guys with axes, a glowy stick and a couple of fireballs to have a reasonable chance of defeating. Unless of course this is like a Quake 1 boss that you kill by hitting a few switches that makes the mountain collapse on it or something. Maybe it will just be a set piece that gets killed by a Deus Ex Machina.

you are forgetting Bard of Laketown felling the dread Smaug with a single shot or the poor beasts in Game of Thrones which both fell to single blows. myriads of fictional dragons get killed by a single heroic blow in the literature spanning ages, and of course who can forget the brave little tailors boast with giants?
whittling down Hit Points with multiple blows in many rounds to kill a dragon originated in Dungeons & Dragons and all of the subsequent derivative video games based directly on D&D game mechanics (practically every video game regardless of genre)
a beast regardless of size is still a living beast with critical vital zones capable of sustaining a mortal wound.
I do hope some thought of practicality went into quest design and a dragon isnt found in a room with a single humanoid sized doorway.

I'd think based on the success on this "kick starter" they'd realize that making more content will only make them more money. Do you think anyone that spends $150 on this wont spend another ~$50 for more content? I know I would
