Agreed... but! I think in many ways an expansion like Wizards of Morcar was really good. The campaign was pretty short, but it gave us an handful of new creatures, a new concept with the mercenaries and last but not least a whole load of new spells.
It was much more a new toolbox than a campaign. That's what I'm really hoping for. Lot's of new tools.
Tools that are uniform in execution and artstyle.
Seriously, I'd think I'd almost take a card pack with new equipment, artifacts and spell schools over a a remake of the original expansions.

I have 3000 14mm, white, wooden reproduction combat dice on the way along with red movement dice. They are at FedEx in Indianapolis Indiana currently. I'm going to order black dice with white logos next month.

My bet is the show stops with the Stephen Baker questbook.
I think they have calculated how much this thing can drive home, and quite frankly I don't think we're gonna surpass it with a whole lot.

Again another drop. Still is easily going to hit the 2million goal, maybe they need to add some more goals to increase interest.
That's about another $200,000 to go... is there a deadline for when they need to reach it?
Still have 33 days until the fundraising ends.

Can we place orders yet?

There's nothing wrong with criticizing some of the decisions made here. After all, aren't we their target audience (or a representative sampling at the very least)? If they can answer our questions and give us something we want, they make a sale. We don't owe them any special loyalty just because they're using a brand we like for what it did in the past.
I would say the same thing if this were any other franchise being revived for nostalgia as well. I do wish them the best. Some of the things they're doing I like, others I don't much care for. Again, having nice looking minis that don't quite fit with this game is mild compared to keeping a good version of the rules and the core content intact which they show all intents of doing.
So far there has been no attacking of the fans (or orders to attack the fans from those in charge) which is a great thing nowadays. This happens with far too many franchises. If you don't be a brand loyalist fanboy, they come after you and say you're a bad person (taking no responsibility themselves for any oversights or failings). The goal is to capture your audience and make money, bottom line.
You hear that Hasbro? So learn from the mistakes of these past franchise remakers who ended up ruining and toxifying their audiences. Don't let that happen to HeroQuest! We're talking now, but the general public still doesn't know this even exists and will have no clue about it until after it hits store shelves (and probably the Christmas season 2021 when most people get their hands on it). THEN you will hear the good AND the bad. Take responsibility. Listen to your audience. But don't listen to those who would undermine the core of the game (say, with politics), which is what really matters. It's the details, and how easily people will be able to obtain the game when it comes out, that really matter. An unreasonable criticism would be like "this game sucks because it's not D20," while a reasonable one is "Mentor is not Zargon" or "not everyone, possibly not even most buyers, will paint all their miniatures... so differentiate them by color").
