Level 11: Castle of Mystery
"If that square is already occupied, he will land on the character or monster on it. The character (...) must role two dices to see where he is teleported.
example: Player one jumps on player three. Player three has to 'jump' elsewhere. Does player three jumps in his own turn? He will break another rule ("Characters may only pass through one portal per turn") if he does.
My reply:
As found in the North American Quest Book, Castle of Mystery:
NOTES:
As soon as a Hero moves through any door, he must stop immediately
and roll two red dice. He will then be teleported to the square
with the same number as the dice total. If that square is already
occupied, he will land on the Hero or monster in the square. The
landed-on Hero or monster will lose 1 Body point, and, if still
alive, must roll two red dice to see where he/it is teleported. If the
same square number is rolled, roll again. The first teleported Hero
remains on the square. Heroes may only pass through one door
per turn!
The landed-on Hero (player three) immediately teleports upon being landed on by the first, triggering player (player one). This amounts to a second teleport by player three in player one's turn. Following the rules for movement in the Instruction Booklet, a Hero or monster may not end movement in another player's or monster's square. Thus the immediate teleport.
Also note that this will not break the "Heroes may only pass through one door per turn!" rule, as the landed-upon Hero (player three) doesn't actually move as stated in the Instruction Booklet (roll two red dice). By extension, he never actually passes though a door when landed on. Therefor that Hero is still eligible to move and pass though a door on his turn. Passing through a door requires regular movement. Teleporting does not, nor does it require passing through a door (though teleporting may sometimes be caused by passing through a door).
I see nothing in the wording that forbids a third, fourth, or even further successive teleports in a cascade if the landed-on Hero teleports and lands on yet another Hero. For example, Hero one could land on Hero three, who reactively teleports and lands on Hero two, who in turn is reactively teleported onto Hero 1! Hero 1 would then be reactively teleported in a karmic spiral. It's remotely possible for two of the Heroes to be killed in this tri-cycle of death teleports.
Has anyone actually ever had a multiple teleport triggered in this way, with more than one reactive teleport? I think it would be hilarious if the original teleporting Hero actually caused a cascade and took a Body point of damage in return, two or three reactive teleports later.
