I am looking for some advice please. I obtained a copy Heroquest from eBay recently and apart from the box, dice and the candles (which were repaired at one point and glued) everything else was in good condition but I wasn't happy with the condition of the combat dice. I managed to obtain a set of 6 combat dice from Germany but I wasn't happy with them as the face combination didn't match the original dice, I know it's still a 1 in 6 chance to roll a black shield etc etc but for nostalgic reasons (and OCD tendencies) I decided to have a set made that matched the original face combination.
After messing about with the graphics in a couple of programs to get them large enough for a 300dpi print I ordered new combat dice from a site in the US about 5 weeks ago and they arrived today. Below are pictures showing the original Heroquest Dice (Left), the Dice from Germany (Middle) and the new one from the US on the right. Having studied each I realised that the German dice didn't print the black shield properly and has some details missing which didn't matter at the end of the day but I am wondering if I should coat all my new new plastic dice with a protective coating of some sort to preserve the printed surfaces and I was wondering if anyone in the community has done something similar be able to recommend a product?

PS In case you are wondering my new Dice are a whopping 19mm which are fairly large as you can see when compared to the originals but they seem to roll well and both my son and dice tower seems to like them
