I noticed that the box itself is taller/deeper for the Advanced Quest (UK) version than the Game System version (US) perhaps you guys don't suffer from crunched cardboard doors and bent swords as much? Is the same true for box size of the basic game version in the UK? the box art and text is slightly different as well.
I haven't done much other comparisons but I have those two versions and can take a detailed look if need be.

Yeah, that's true. EU game system box is slimmer than EU Master Edition and the designs are different, too.
