Skull Dice Refurbishing

What do people use to recolor the black when it kind of gets rubbed away? Sharpie?
Testor's Enamel paint? what???

I used a sharpie... 15 years ago.. they look pretty bad now...

Used Sharpie about 7 years back, and they still look fine. But I've rarely played in the last few years...

Has anyone tried adding a clear coat to their dice to protect them from paint wear? I'm curious to know how well it would work.

Not that the "wooden" dice they made would be all that balanced to begin with (I can't imagine
that they would be)...but, I would think adding a clear coat would effect the balancing of the
dice and effect how the rolls came out.

A clear coat could also be done with a spray, couldn't it? Wouldn't be as permanent, but better than nothing.
If I were to use a varnish, I'd err on weighting a black shield result. Them mosters need a break!
