Prince Magnus' Gold
This was the last quest my kids played, when 50% of the party died.
I might even use yours to mix it up a little when they return.
I told them if they left the chests unguarded, it might disapear.
When I play, and its the monsters turn, even if no monsters are on the board, I roll a 6 sided
to see if new monsters enter the area via the stairway. I look at it as a store, whats the odds of
noone entering while you are there shopping. Monster might work on shifts too. Keeps the players moving.
I also have them make their way back to the stairs, while I shake the die to see if more enter.
So when the forth player in the group finishes their move, I roll, if i roll a 6, new monsters have arrived.
I don't put them on the board until the party is in view of them. Some monsters enter and stay at the stairs, other
I move them along in my mind, to see where they would be when spotted by party. Thats only a 1 in 6 chance for
random monster, and yet it seems to be enough.
Now your idea if one or more chests disappears, can start a new quest vs. quest fails, is also an awesome idea.
As long as the other ones where returned, in tacted no gold missing. I started hearing them talk about keeping
the gold to buy better items, and never got to see the honesty of the characters. States in quest, the player that keeps the gold,
can never become a champion.
I haven't had time to write my own quest yet, will have to wait till they have gone to bed, to set up the board.
My plan was to use every room on the board, a few traps, many secret doors. This would be a long quest, and
not sure if I would issue a healing potion to each character, or some kind of ring of recall back to the stairs,
when near death. And the last room would have stairs to leave, so they would not have to back track, or a
secret door to the surface.
I just watched a PC version of Heroquest on youtube lol, damn i almost want to download and try that too.
I remember playing telengard when i was younger and just found a PC version installed it and have been playing on and off
just to remember a time, when graphics wasn't the idea just having fun. Like all those gold box AD&D games... that i still own.
Both for my C64 and PC. But wait... this is still a board game site... and my kids are loving me pulling down my old
board games.
