HeroQuest Brazilian Edition Official Rules

Postby HispaZargon » February 18th, 2022, 4:51 pm

Dear all Ye Olde Inn members,

In 1993, Estrela S.A. company released, with Milton Bradley & Hasbro licence, the last classic edition of HeroQuest, the Brazilian one.

The gameplaying rules of this Brazilian edition were fully based in the American ones from 1990, however this edition included several aesthetical differences compared with North American Edition, which nowadays have awaken the curiosity of many other HeroQuest fans worldwide. The most known difference is this edition is miniatures and some of its furniture pieces were entirely made of cardboard parts instead of plastic, but there were other different details...

Then, I am glad to open this thread to summarize and provide access to all the available content in the Inn and other external websites about 1993's Brazilian Edition of HeroQuest. Unfortunately, there is some unavailable material by now but I hope it would appear in the future:

Game System (Sistema do Jogo Basico) box components:

- Rulebook (Manual de Instruçôes) : Portuguese (more info and direct links in this thread)

- Questbook (Livro das Buscas) : Portuguese (more info and direct links in this thread)

- Screen : Portuguese (provided by lucapaschi, more info and direct links in this thread)

- Character Boards (x4) : Portuguese (external download from website http://www.bibliotecaelfica.org)

- Cards (x66) : Portuguese (external download from website http://www.bibliotecaelfica.org)

- Character Sheets : Portuguese (more info and direct links in this thread)

- Tiles : Same tiles as 1990's American Edition (Inn's download here)

- Cardboard Miniatures : Inn's member brsathler provided a printable fanmade version of them in the Inn's Gallery (download links: Miniatures 1, Miniatures 2, Miniatures 3, Miniatures 4, Miniatures 5). Notice original miniatures do not include any cardboard base as shown in these pictures since they were assembled in regular plastic door bases pieces.

- Cardboard Exclusive Furniture : Din-A4 size (provided by lucapaschi, more info and direct links in this thread)

- Components Assembly Guide : Portuguese (provided by lucapaschi, more info and direct links in this thread)

- Gift Cover Art Poster : The main box contained a flyer with instructions about how this poster could be obtained by the game's owner. Poster picture provided by lestodante can be found here. More info available in this thread.

- Brazilian Gift Poster Request Form : Portuguese (provided by lucapaschi, more info and direct links in this thread)

Kellar's Keep (Armadilha em Kellar's Keep) expansionbox components:

- Questbook (Livro das Buscas) : Portuguese (provided by Tiago & Odanan, more info and direct links in this thread). Alternative fanmade old translation is available at this Inn's page.

- Tiles : Same tiles as Kellar's Keep American Edition (Inn's download here)

- Cardboard Miniatures : Original not available, but these 17 cardboard miniatures were assumed to have the same design as the Orcs, Goblins and Fimirs from Game System box cardboard miniatures. Notice that the plastic regular door bases pieces required to assembly these cardboard monsters were provided inside the expansion box.

Return of the Witch Lord (O Retorno de Witch Lord) expansion box components:

- Questbook (Livro das Buscas) : Portuguese (more info and direct links in this Inn's page)

- Tiles : Same tiles as Return of the Witch Lord American Edition (Inn's download here)

- Cardboard Miniatures : Original not available, but these 16 cardboard miniatures were assumed to have the same design as the Skeletons, Zombies and Mummies from Game System box cardboard miniatures. Notice that the plastic regular door bases pieces required to assembly these cardboard monsters were provided inside the expansion box.

Official Expansions components:

- Brazilian Edition of Dragon Magazine and others also published some exclusive addon's for HeroQuest. Inn's member Geofonos provided them in this post.

Please, if anybody knows where can be found some of the non available material, it would be so interesting for the Inn's Community to find it and complete the list in order to preserve the full set of these documents for future generations of HeroQuest fans. All colaboration will be appreciated, thank you.

The link looks it is Ok, it works well for me. Nevertheless, it corresponds with document "Livro de Buscas" you can find here: https://www.bibliotecaelfica.org/category/hero-quest/

Hi everybody,

Once again, thanks to Inn's member lucapaschi, please note that new link to Brazilian Screen has been already added to the summary post.

I have also updated the links to the available files in the Inn about Brazilian Editions of Return of the Witch Lord and Kellar's Keep expansions. Unfortunately an original scan of the second one's questbook is not still available, but I hope we will have it sometime in the future.

Enjoy!

Thanks HZ and lucapaschi!!!

At least Brazilian HeroQuest players didn't have to worry about broken candlesticks...

Wasn't there an alternate Armory board with different artwork as well?

Ahhh... thank you. I also see a nice "painting guide" via the cardboard furniture pieces and the cardboard standees that others could use for inspiration... (EU edition has other examples of painted furniture on the back of that GM screen).
