Thanks, but the Ogre didn't fall into the pit, the pit trap had already been sprung by the heroes. The Ogre was the Wandering Monster of that quest and the only available spot for him to appear and attack from was the pit.
I thought it relevant since the previous post talked about Wandering Monster placement.
