Lots of people say that the Game System (NA edition) is "too easy" (they must not be talking about the Trial). Those same people will be blown away by the 1992 expansions if played as written.
If your group was adding things to the Game System to make it more challenging, you may find yourself doing the opposite with the Elf and Barbarian packs. Playing ATOH, WOM or Dark Company with the NA rules would also be a very difficult challenge, unless you've saved up dozens of healing potions. Or you could try playing according to the EU rules (1st or 2nd edition) in which yes, most monsters have 1 BP (not the case in ATOH, and to a lesser extent WOM & Dark Company) but there are also NO death saves (in Dark Company there is one rare elixir that can bring you back with 1 BP).
But yes I think they added those "toggles" in the Companion App as a suggestion to make the quests harder for those who wish. If you use those on Frozen Horror, watch out, imagine fighting FOUR polar warbears because you triggered one of those undetectable "wandering monster traps!" (at least two such ambushes in every group quest I've found and they usually force you to go that direction). And imagine now that they also had 7 body points, and each of their attacks was 5 dice, and they defended with 4 dice. Goblins that can move attack move and skeletons that can hit diagonally are cool ideas though.
