I would like to share with you something I have found interesting...

Today the Facebook's page 'Hasbro Fans ES' (= Hasbro Fans Spain) has uploaded this short video reel just showing the four regular Heroes (Barbarian, Wizards, Elf and Dwarf)... nothing suspisius, right? Well... yes and no for me... look at the words written in Spanish in the video as footnote:

HasbroFansES_Reel_Zargon_Boss.JPG

They say "Nuestros héroes intentarán destruir al terrible hechicero Zargon y traer la paz de vuelta al reino de @HasbroFansES", which literally means in English "Our Heroes will try to destroy the terrible sorcerer Zargon and bring peace back to the realm of @HasbroFansES"

Speculation Mode opened again...

Could it be a sign about the rumor of seeing Zargon as the final boss of next expansion Wizards of Zargon (or however is finally titled)??

Another cool point is the background music of the video is the same as the soundtrack from 90's PC videogame of HeroQuest... I always thought the rights of such music were owned by GREMLIN Company, not by MB/Hasbro, however they seem to use it here without any obstacle to promote HeroQuest board game...

I wish we could view it off of Facebook. Good find! That music is so nostalgic (even if the PC game left much to be desired)...

Again I think canonically "destroying" Zargon the character is a mistake, but we'll see what happens.

WIZARDS OF MORCAR (leak) discussion

Postby Kurgan » December 20th, 2024, 11:49 pm

Edited by HispaZargon: I merged all the messages from thread "WIZARDS OF MORCAR (leak) discussion" in this already existing thread called "WIZARDS OF ZARGON discussion", for better tracking of events since both threads treat the same topic. Final title of the expansion looks like that it will be with the name of 'Morcar', but not still confirmed so I decided to not correct the title of any post and keep them as they were written originally until the expansion title is confirmed."

News is being broken as we speak.. thanks to Archian and seekhashem on HeroQuestFans discord (and Archian said he was reposting so it is appearing other places). Listings are appearing on distributors that Wizards of Morcar (yes, they are not calling it "Wizards of Zargon") and COPD (Crypt of Perpetual Darkness) are apparently on the horizon.

People will recall that Wizards of Morcar was the second to last official boxed release in Europe for HeroQuest in 1991 (two more Dave Morris novels came out one each in 1992 and 1993... and HeroQuest: Advanced Quest aka Master Edition came out in 1992 featuring "The Dark Company" while 1992 also saw the release in the US of the Barbarian and Elf Quest Packs which proved to be the last official boxed expansions until 2021's revival).

A lot of us have been speculating that WOM was going to be remade under Avalon Hill anyway once ATOH was confirmed, but nobody was quite sure when it would happen. Patrick O'Rourke laughed when I asked him about it in August at Gencon, and Doug Hopkins repeatedly said both on and off camera that he couldn't comment on things that hadn't been officially approved for announcement or release yet. Some speculated that this might be the "last" release, but there's no sign that HeroQuest is stopping (the App was renewed through the end of December 2026).

CoPD would mark the last big chunk of "Mythic tier" material that hadn't been yet released to retail and a lot of us assumed based on what was being said by Avalon Hill reps (especially Encarmine aka Chris Nadeau when he was still with the company) that this was probably never coming out due to exclusivity. If that has changed that would make a lot of people very happy!

Anyway here is what we know so far. In the past these store listings appear and disappear quickly but are usually a clear sign of a real release coming in the near future (certainly within 18 months!).

We begin with Archian's posts on our discord:

Archian wrote:Today at 7:21 PM
Also posting this here. I just got confirmation from a retailer that they are taking preorders for Crypt of Pepertual Darkness

https://www.adventgames.com.au/p/958137 ... order.html
I have asked them to confirm that they have word from Hasbro that there will indeed be a release of Crypt of Pepertual Darkness and asked who their supplier is"

Let me also point everyone to the Wizards of Morcar Suggestions thread! Here's hoping Avalon Hill has considered this info as well! :2cents:

Maybe so, maybe so!

Images added! Prices are Australian but seem similar to prices corresponding to the smaller Mythic re-released retail boxes (Prophecy of Telor, Spirit Queen's Torment) for COPD and the larger expansion boxes (Frozen Horror, Mage of the Mirror, etc) for WOM.

And more from the sites themselves: (the text description of WOM looks copied from the regular book)

The price listed at Advent Games ($70) is lower than expected. We generally pay $80 to $95 for full expansions. Perhaps this one will not have as much plastic in it.

Also, the price for COPD is nothing like what we pay for the large expansions - at $35 to $40, that's what we pay for character packs.

In the US at least $24.99 was the original MSRP for KK & ROTWL (and the Game System was $124.99).
Then later they raised the prices on HasbroPulse to $34.99 and $134.99 respectively. [for reference the original Heroic Tier of two boxes was $99.99 and Mythic of five was $149.99]

The larger expansion boxes (Frozen Horror size) were $44.99.
PoT and SQT were $33.99.
HeroCollections varied a little: The Commander of the Guardian Knights Guardian Knight (limited release though it was) was $14.99 (as was the Wandering Monk) while the Rogue Heir of Elethorn was $16.99.

Those remained the Pulse Prices (Rogue went out of stock on the US site) and many places including Amazon quickly offered discounts on all the items (though third party sellers offered whatever they wanted, usually higher than MSRP).

Anything is possible but I would expect CoPD to conform to the SQT/PoT size and price (or KK/ROTWL at the most) and WOM to conform to the FH/MOTM/ROTDM/ATOH/JOD box size & price. With inflation, it might be a bit more, or they might just cut stuff down to match.

Update: Linked the Wizards of Morcar Remake Suggestions thread!

Form the Australian websites it seems that WoM/Z expansion's Hasbro product code will be G1504.
