Virg posted a nice list of the 20 cards on Avalon Hill discord:

Alchemy:
Potion of Restoration,
Venom Antidote,
Potion of Dexterity,
Potion of Battle,
Potion of Speed,
Potion of Defense,
Potion of Healing (500g, 1d6),

Artifact:
Crown of Shadows (New and old art versions),
Dragon Spear (New and old art versions),
Ring of Return,
Magical Throwing Dagger,
Lightning Bolt Spell Scroll,
Tempest Spell Scroll,
Oil of Acid Immunity (New and old art versions),

Equipment:
Battle Axe,
Crossbow,
Holy Water

So all the unique items have an "old art" version (remake style) vs. the new crazy graffiti art style for old items (and new items).

Thanks Virg!

This is probably going to be the second expansion I'm skipping after TSQT. Not worth 35 bucks in my opinion.

Just for the sake of collection I'm still getting it. Asides from the Dice I don't plan on using any other pieces. I can't fault anyone else for not getting it. The Jungles of Delthrak dice were too expensive at the time, but I'm in a much better place financially now to add for collection purposes.

I missed this.. there's a Betrayal 3rd Edition style "Remarkable Rim" (to use the term for Ribby's awesome homebrew) included in the package. The instagram unboxing from Doug Hopkins shows it explicitly (and HeroQuest Italia shared a closeup, it didn't register in my mind at first that it was actually included in the package). It's a single rubber boot (again, like Avalon Hill's Betrayal, which are also HQ compatible by the way, the bases are the same size in these figures as well as Renegade's HeroScape for the regular figures, Talisman 5e too) that's gray. It won't do much to stop the Dragon from tipping over, but as Doug said, some fans like to designate a chief monster with something like this, so it was included. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DKR2PA0KzHW/ (from UK Games Expo). Image from Facebook originally, cross posted from HeroQuestFans discord, thanks Axian!

So one more thing included in the box...

oh, my Goddess them cards are horrid as are the character sheets. If I buy an add on for Heroquest, I want it to look like, guess what!, Heroquest!!!
Smacks of Joe just wanting his pack to be different, down with the kids in the jaunty, graffiti style writing and just appealing to his own pride in not just being another standard Quest Pack.
That's £35 saved for me!!

Yeah it's a mess. I'll buy it but never open it.

I noticed my Amazon preorder changed the release date from Aug 4 to Sept 4. Preorders on there sometimes do that and then go back to normal. But who knows? Maybe Joe sees us ragging on him and asked Hasbro to include more minis lol. Or maybe they want to sell more units at Gen Con. Who knows what direction this game is going anynore?

It looks like the preorders on amazon are currently unavailable at the moment. I’ll have to check back later.

Yeah highlights for me would be the rim (hoping for more rims in the future, not because Ribby's aren't awesome, they are, but that AH is recognizing how useful they can be in this game!), and the dice. The dragon looks better than it did before (basic gray is just too boring). I'd take a few posters of that new card art...

I will admit that the Tavern title is a great addition to HeroQuest, period. If you look through the old files on YeOldeInn, a couple of similar homebrew tiles existed (and a dragon too). These are ideas fans have dreamed of, and made their own versions of for ages. Getting an official interpretation out in the wild (and not just a one-off that a few of us lucky ones got to collect) is just fine by me.

I was in my local FLGS today and held a foil MTG card (unsleeved) in my hands. The thing was slightly curled, but it looked neat in the light. Nothing earth-shattering.

Now I grant you, had I not been an owner of Mythic, and hadn't already played through CoPD with a group, I would be much more excited about this, even with the dearth of minis. Here's hoping WOM is all it can be as a bigger box expansion given the same or better level of care that ATOH remake got (even if it has to be $60)!

More assets mean more fodder for the imagination (hey, at least you'll have another use for those rat minis/tiles!).

If there were other monsters and/or hero minis in the box, I could give this an "excellent" grade, for now it's more just a wait and see kind of thing.

They didn't have to necessarily put more knobs in the box. They could have easily come up with some new ability cards or potions exclusive to this re-release. And maybe they could have added them to a remixed quest book. Would have kept the Mythic one special while adding something to the new version that long time fans would have been a bit more excited about buying.

Wouldn't have cost them much more per se. I mean, they probably have a lot of unused art and potion ideas lying around. They could have dipped into that well.

The foil and new art just reminds me of that classic Simpsons episode:

Lisa: "Wait, don't be fooled! She's just a regular Malibu Stacy with a stupid, cheap hat! She still embodies all the awful stereotypes she did before!

Smithers: "Yeah but she's got a new hat!"

New content in the form of text and cardboard can be done (heck, we've seen it done with digital supplements too). But I think what people really want to see are more plastic pieces in the box. Even if that raises the cost slightly... I think that's what many fans want. And since there are still former exclusives yet un-released into retail, finding ways to get those out to people I think should hopefully on their "to do" list for the future.

Then again who knows... maybe people will have forgotten about everything but Joe's stretch goal and leave it at that.

I mean, we did get better sculpts for the male Elf and female Barbarian along with a revised Druid. Sir Ragnar was reasoned away as being just like a Dread Warrior or Knight anyway (under the helmet of course). But where's our female Wizard and Dwarf variants?

I'd still love to see a "Mentor" figure, and the Witch Lord would be great. Here again whether it's a theoretical HeroScape crossover pack, or an official HQ pack, as long as it's a retail product, I'm happy with that (and how about re-stocking the Rogue)?

I know, it seems like a long list of things we're asking for, but this is a franchise revival, not just a one and done thing for a few collectors and superfans only still... right?

I'm much more excited to see that stuff come out than all of the fancy dice and trays they can come up with. I'm sure that's not just me. :2cents:
