I'll respectfully disagree; I think it was pretty straightforward these things were exclusive to the backing. You're way overanalyzing that and I think being too critical. It's part of what appeals to folks to back the kickstarter instead of waiting until it's backed.

Hasbro will probably release the same gender swap heroes with the character themed quest packs (if they get that far). It seems The Frozen Horror will be a thing from all the hints we've seen, and I assume eventually The Mage in the Mirror.

We shall see if they are up for creating entirely new Dwarf and Wizard packs, or it they run out of steam like MB did before.

Maybe some day they will have a Knight quest pack so I can get my hands on at least one Knight hero, but I highly doubt it. I also highly doubt Hasbro will release more of the Guardian Knight set. I hope I am wrong though.
I just have a bad feeling Hasbro doesn't know what they are doing sometimes (ever see the 1986 Transforms animated movie?).

That's a good point, actually. I was hoping we'd get the pledge release ones and then we'd get alternate sculpts in the themed hero packs.

And yes I have seen the '86 movie (still genius compared to what was to come!).

Of course, and who knows, maybe I am. But I wouldn't be the only one, IF I am. I think Hasbro owes us big time, and I hope they break all their old rules with this one in favor of becoming more customer friendly and focused on the common customer, rather than collectors. Kickstarters are for getting a new product to the wider market (that might otherwise be risky), not to give a handful of fans a few rare pieces to collect/scalp. It gives fans a sense of ownership in having made it happen, which does no good if it was only for that small group to begin with!

Many people on this forum and all over the internet were saying this game was never coming to retail, and those people were (thankfully) quite wrong.

I'm not trying to start a debate with you FF, or anyone here, but I am curious what you think...
What's the difference between "Pulse Bonus" and "Limited Time Exclusive"?

Well said, and I wholeheartedly agree. As much as I want the knight set, it's more of the principle of the thing that gets me annoyed. I had just got my Mythic Tier stuff and barely even went through it, to find out later a hero expansion was released a few days after I received all my stuff and it was already sold out. I got the Mythic tier with the intention of getting everything this time around, only to find out I already failed, and got a swift kick in the crotch instead.

I agree with both of you 100%. but these are separate and distinct issues.

I don't work for Hasbro, so I can't answer for them. I do get the confusion based on the screen shots you shared, but my guess is it's a bunch of marketing people who didn't want to use the same word over and over and here we are: confused as to the intent. I took it as "exclusives and bonuses for folks who backed this specific tier of the campaign". They may eventually release it, they may not - I didn't take the chance, and backed the campaign to lock in my set. I get that Pulse sells other things on the site regularly, but this was a specific campaign with extras for the backers, with no promise of future release (mind you, I've never backed anything before, so I am not familiar with the conventions and implications).

As far as Hasbro owing us, I understand, but don't agree with that kind of perspective. The only time a company "owes" anyone is if they didn't deliver something they advertised as part of something (if, for example, no one who backed the campaign got a Sir Ragnar because they changed their mind at the end - more of a bait and switch, etc.). In fact, we weren't supposed to get the extra gargoyle, the dragon or the dragon quests, but they delivered MORE than they were supposed to. I'd say Hasbro is up, if anything.

Look, I get it - folks want the extras, and this was a poorly advertised event, etc. I hate scalpers too, etc. I understand where you're coming from, I do. I just don't agree fully with the assessment and proposed next steps.

Either way, I appreciate the polite debate. It's rare on forums.

I can't agree with you more on this. I ordered it minutes after it went live. This methodology makes no sense at all. If it's a supply chain issue, but all orders will be fulfilled - great! But communicate with us!

They lie to my face... "pre-order! In stock! delivery date" just kidding "new delivery date! in stock" etc. until it finally happens. My Mythic order also got delayed, the delivery person put it by my trash cans and didn't make me sign for it (thank goodness I signed up for email notification and was checking it before any porch pirates happened along). It's a poorly written automated system that nobody can control (so they claim). They can't admit mistakes they just make them over and over again and we put up with it, because we want whatever it is they're shoveling! I am starting to sound like Shadzar... sorry pal.

Agreed on that! Knowing that there's no malice in my questions, FF, how would you feel if Hasbro did release all of the Mythic unlocks (not just "limited time exclusives" and "pulse bonuses") to the general public... not for a limited time, but that could be purchased anytime? To the point where the prices went down and they became common?

Would you be upset with Hasbro or feel they had somehow betrayed their promises to backers? I'm hoping to better understand your position.

Some would say that whatever the company decides to do must be respected. But the other side of even that contention is that we as their target audience of customers (and potential customers) have the ability to influence that decision. I too own the Mythic tier, but I'd like more people to have access to that material.

PS: Another unrelated company just refunded (a not small amount of) money I sent them on a "pre-order" for an indie game nearly five years ago today. Yes, a pre-order, not a pledge or kickstarter. I had written it off but they finally came through (though I will admit I did send them angry emails, and one in the form of a demand letter, over the years and even left a polite but firm voice mail at their corporate office). Of course this was a fly-by-night company consisting of approximately one guy, vs. Gamestop or Hasbro, which should have better customer service and marketing abilities. I won't whine about the interest (less than a dollar) they could have collected on my payment for a product I never received (but could have, for a higher price once they actually finished it, it's a long story), but I won't because it's finally over.

PPS: Lesson learned, my "luck" with such things is poor to nonexistent, so whether I might "miss out" or not, even if the entire internet is telling me I'm going to miss out, I think I'll avoid pre-ordering luxury goods in the future, even if it comes from a purportedly reputable company. And maybe if more "hardcore fans" had a similar attitude, companies would be disinclined from this sort of strategy. One can only hope! I mean think of it... imagine stuff just "came out" and you could buy it. No hoping to get into some queue waiting for some limited release exclusive, constantly searching for those little clues that something may or may not come out to a select few. If we stop falling for it and start harming their brand with our feedback (instead of letting them get away with it), it'll stop being profitable for them both in terms of actual dollars and reputational harm. If I were a truly bitter and vengeful fan, I'd have half a mind to sell my Knight package when it finally arrives, on ebay for a huge markup as a scalper as "compensation." But then I'd simply be contributing to the problem, and not punishing the company in the least, but only taking it out on some ignorant fellow fan (so no way on that fantasy). I either keep the dang thing or return it for a full refund (if I wanted to stick it to Hasbro/Gamestop). Are we getting wiser? :p :x :ugeek:
