I wonder if WoZ will have his original epilogue written for WoM, since he mentions losing the AtOH one but not that one?

It's true, I caught that too. He only specified Against the Ogre Hoard being lost but didn't say anything about Wizards of Morcar. Either he forgot to mention and meant both or is intentionally holding back. I'll send him a reply inquiring about that?

Yes please, I also realized it here. If you could continue posting any new answer there, it would be better, I think.

I wrote Baker back and he was quick with a reply, the epilogue for Wizards of Morcar was lost too, unfortunately. I'll post my Email in the interview forum and his reply.

There's a seller on Etsy who made minis for the spawnlings. I might have to pick those up too!

Yeah, I got the map Lost in the Jungle, by the seller LostGameMaps, I love it.
I like the spawnlings minis as you say but didn't get them as I'm sick of painting stuff!!!!

Thanks for letting me know!

Always board never boring went to a press event and got some non-Heroquest related news

https://youtu.be/_AywZU1oF3Y?si=VzXQgUZHv5dLLDSx

He DID tease a Heroquest update coming soon though. I guess he can't reveal what he knows about HQ until AH says it's OK.

Please let it be WOM news and not more COPD non news about foil cards!

UK Gaming Expo is this weekend. GenCon has posted their events... (no mention there of Wizards of Morcar yet, only CoPD and an exclusive new quest for First Light).

I have a gut feeling that WOM will be a straight re-release with only a few minor updates to fit the current rule set.

Yes they have to add new quests to fill it out but I have a sneaking suspicion that they will do another "Arena" type scenario for those three quests but it will be more Magic themed. The classic expansions seem to run in pairs (FH and MotM has mercy mechanic for example) so having two expansions with additional arena based quests seems logical.

If this does come to pass (which I hope it doesn't), that means we could see more magic themed monster minis. Something like the goblin sorcerer in JOD (or maybe a straight reissue). I would love a Chaos Warlock ala the classic looking one, or other generics with magical abilities or items.

I always think in terms of cost saving when it comes to Hasbro so this is the scenario I thought they would go with because it saves money.

Looking to the last reveals of retail box content of CoPD expansion, and assuming that Hasbro could look again for a vanilla solution for WoM box, here is my best guess of possible miniature content (pure speculation):

2x New Hero miniatures in red color (Male and Female variants), inspired in the Wizard Hero like Berserker did with the Barbarian and Explorer did with the Dwarf in AtOH.
12x Mercenary miniatures in red color (same as FH but in red color, hopefully with alternative gender than FH but unlikely)
1x Nemesis miniature (Morcar?)
4x Evil Sorceres miniatures in dark grey color (Necromancer, High Mage, Orc Shaman, Storm Master)
4x Orc Archer miniatures in dark green color (2 Male and 2 Female, same as the ones included in AtOH)
2x Orc miniatures in dark green color (Same as the ones included in Mythic Tier box)
2x Dread Warrior miniatures in dark grey color (Same as the ones included in Mythic Tier box)
2x Skeleton miniatures in white color (Same as the ones included in Mythic Tier box)

29 miniatures total, in line with RotDM, AtOH, or JoD boxes content.

Crypt of Perpetual Darkness leaves off on such a cliffhanger with the Crown of Shadows, part of me is hoping they tie this in. Of course they're gonna rewrite the story, like they did with Against Ogre Hoard, but the 5 main quests will be practically identical. If they add 5 others do some other mod of play that would be interesting.
All the spells (Wizard and Zargon) need work but if they decide to print them without change I could work around that. Cloak of Shadows, unfortunately, would need to be renamed but this spell perfectly incorporates the Crown of Shadows, as it allows the hero to see in darkness "both magical and otherwise." If I recall the original correctly there's a even a room in one of the quests that's so dark the heroes lose a combat dice or something. So this artifact could work nicely in this quest pack.

I doubt we'll see a new hero, but a new spellcasting hero would be hard to work around as the Wizard is already limited as is.

Wizards of Morcar would likely be in a small box. Based on Keller's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord these boxes can hold up to 17 figurines. So a Wizards of Morcar small box maybe holding 3 mercenaries of each type and 1 of each sorcerer, maybe extra skeleton and Orc archers (if they can fit). Otherwise the rest is all cards and the Quest pack.
Unless they're adding a bunch in the 5 additional quests, they could probably fit it all in a small box. Assuming, of course, they actually make it. Again, I'm pointing out Hasbro has never quite confirmed this expansion.
