Actually, it's 3 attack dice, +1 when fighting a Dragon. The weapon does not specify if it is 2 handed or can be used with a shield. Zargon would need to make a decision on that. If there was a normal spear in the armory for a base spear I'd feel better about it. If I remember correctly there
was a spear in the original European edition, which gave 2 attack dice, diagonal and could be thrown... The concept of 1 handed/2 handed wasn't a thing to be specified. The Battle Axe was the only weapon specified that it couldn't be coupled with a shield.
Otherwise the only other spear we have in the game is the Ice Queen's Spear artifact from Into the North Lands. This doesn't specify if it's 1 or 2 handed and says nothing in regards to a shield. It's a standard 2 attack, but +1 against Polar Warbears... there's nothing that this can do that a Longsword can't, so it's a pointless artifact. But back to the point of the spear, it
does allow diagonal attacks like the Dragon Spear. Naturally, however, no weapon says that it
can go with a shield, only the weapons that don't are specified. So by this logic, yes, the Dragon Spear and Ice Queen's Spear
should be able to combine with a shield.
I would agree that it's overpowered
if it were 4 attack dice. The Dragon Spear is the same as a Longsword, but only grants +1 against Dragons. Standard artifact in my opinion.
