Last cold days and Spring ahead update |_P I recently bought some old Das Schwarze Auge (The Dark Eye) Basis boxes that I used to own as a teenager  :fimir: :goblin: :D Huge nostalgiaflash, as this was my first dip into fantasy RPG's back in the day a little after I got Hero Quest for christmas back in the 80ties! :D These sets still are dope and they still spark that old feeling, that there is a whole world to discover. The black and white paintings and thick paper...just love it! Anyway, these Basic DSA boxes and modules just sparked a whole new wave of inspiration for me. I think I gonna start running old DSA 2 modules with my group soon.

So the other day I got the drive of painting some more details on the Dwarven Forge swamp pieces. I thought I had finished them but I wanted to bring out more details.

These tiles are superfun to paint, it takes a while but its just a blast painting them cause they are so detailed. The cool thing about the terrain really is that its modular and you can just set it up in endless variations for your game. So after I finished painting I had to lay em out. :D  This one is a building for a DSA inspired session, The Spider Forest. :zombie: :goblin: I gotta get some Halloween spiderwebs for spider themed stuff some day somewhere

Johnny Frasier Allen keeps inspiring me like crazy. ...This is IT! :P   :o I just joined his patreon, pure gold having insights into his process and thinking...epic tutorials on miniature world building!

This next one is the first video that blew me away a couple years ago. The way he build his board and trees in a modular fashion is genius.

I finally started painted the Litchmyre Gargoyle!! :gargoyle: :fimir:. I probably will go back for more detailwork one day but I am stoked about it now. I am just in love with this sculpt. I keep it like this for now and maybe go back for more details later. :)
I also did some more detailwork on the mainboard last night, so I set it up for some pics with the new Gargoyle today. I wanna motivate myself to finally paint the other models from Boris' kickstarter, gonna be my spring mission! :orc: :fimir: |_P

Thanks a lot Spooky! :) I had so much fun setting it up and taking the pics, I always feel like I get immediately sucked into this miniature microcosm/ universe when I put the board on the table (original one or this one) . I redid the hallways of this board the night before and brought them back to more of a grey color because I wanted to bring a bit more contrast to it. Super happy with it.:) :goblin: :fimir: |_P |_P

Finished painting my first Hagglethorn Hollow building orignally sculpted by Johnny Fraser Allen. I tried to do a dirtied up, realistic paintjob. It was fun painting, I worked with housepaints and woodstain. :) One step closer to the vision of a RPG Tabletop town and Zombicide Board!

Dwarven Forge is way cool, but it's a deluxe, luxury item... way out of my price range for tabletop gaming! It is interesting to note that DF is working with the OG of HQ himself, Mr. Stephen Baker, for a new game called "Where Heroes Dare" (look it up online) which is in development with planned release sometime in 2025 (the description reminds me of some of Mr. Baker's early ideas for HQ that were deemed impractical or too complex or costly by Milton Bradley, leading to the changes and the versions we eventually saw back in '89/90).

This is the sort of thing I'd love to see some awesome fan bring to GenCon for a live game. I realize that's a big ask considering the weight and likely fragility of these pieces. Still, I hope you share it with your local gaming group or at the very least friends & family. Very nice!

Yay thanks Kurgan! I never been to GenCon but I heard its a blast! I would bring these houses for sure if I would go to conventions and run games there, so far I gonna use them for my personal games. I think Johnny who did the sculpting and design is regularly at GenCon promoting his Hagglethorn Hollow and Gloaming campaings he does for printable scenery. He inspired me to finally get a 3 d printer and start printing out his terrain. He is a super cool guy and a real inspiration.

Oh wow I didnt know they work together with Stephen Baker on something new! Thats exciting, yeah DF is pricey af. I was eyeing it for years and at one point I just found an old resin cavern set on the second hand market and when I got it I was so blown away, that it kinda started the collection. Its growing over the years bit by bit, sold huge parts of my record collection for it. Its fun to collect. I gotta check what they plan with Stephen Baker! :)
