Hi everyone. I have decided to post photos of all my custom made Heroquest stuff.
I'll start by posting pictures of my 3d Heroquest board.
I have been using Hirst Art molds to build this, using the Fieldstone range. I know many people have attempted doing this, but this is my attempt at it.
When i say attempt, i mean my second attempt. My first effort was kind of modular, involving lots of peices that had to be assembled by adding door and wall peices as you go. But after seeing Figomurphy's build over in the Project Forge, i decided to cast my first effort asside. I liked his slide over door system, which meant board can be built in 5 sections and the walls can be ready in place.
Below is the centre room with an example of an unpainted slide over door. Its been painted using the castle grey colour scheme that Bruce Hirst describes. I still need to add some moss and other dungeon debris. I want this dungeon to look dark and dismall so my minis contrast nicely.
Any input is welcome.

So how does it work? What do you mean "slide over"?
All the arcs are replacable by doors or...?

How about giving the floor a brown wash to break the monotony of the grey?

You can also paint individual bricks with browns, tans, blacks, even greens and reds to break up monotony.
Anyhow, looking good right there.

Oh, also: goblin piss stains.

Goblin King; the whole door section including door, arch and supporting pillars, are glued together as a seperate piece. This allows doors to be placed easily anywhere on the board by just sliding over the walls.
Yeah i'm still not decided 100% on the all castle grey colour scheme. It keeps it simple and i was hoping the colours on the miniatures will stand out better on a boring background it you know what i mean.

How do you do an open door? Modular part with the wall painted black to look open?

Great stuff Sparky, looking good. Glad you like the door idea, it works great and hopefully will keep the game flowing alot easier, if I ever get the board finished and get around to actually playing Heroquest. I'll keep an eye on your build. Any other ideas I come with I'll for sure he board I'll pass them on. Would appreciate any ideas you think of that might work on my board too. My idea for open doors was to put half a door onto the drop over piece and paint the other half black with some light showing.

For open doors you could also try to physically look through the door into a room, make a sketch, and then paint that freehand on both sides.
