It's going in the right direction, though.
That AHQ wizard looks like Chuck Norris, not only by the outer appearance but also because of his pose and even the attire.
There you go, unthink that.

Hahaha... A Chuck Norris figure was once placed a HeroQuest board; it killed the Game Master and stole the Quest Book, then proceeded to take every Artifact in the game.

I still can't get over how awesome your board looks, sparky. You could put a pile of poo on a heroquest base and it would look great in that Dungeon...
It's like a new pair of underwear; at first it's constrictive, but after a while it becomes a part of you. I have to go...

Chuck Norris haha, i see what you mean. Should i throw an extra combat dice in attack to represent his kungfu skills!
Piles of poo.... dont give me ideas :), perhaps i could add the odd goblin turd in a corner to add some humour to Heroquest games!

Here is my version of the ampersand dwarf. I wasnt too keen on a white haired dwarf so i have gone for a younger look. I really like this mini, his stance is way better than the original.
I think i'm making a better job of the bases now. Any advice on improving my painting is welcome as i always look to improve.

In the case of the dwarf, i like both.
This because of the details and because he can count until 11, and the original because of this presentational pose.

In regards to painting tips, start with shading deeper and highlighting higher, utilizing zenithal light for now.
That would be the first step. Don't use black for darkening a color each time, and don't use white for lightening it each time.
Use any darker color to darken another, use any lighter color to lighten it and just go with what you like.
That's the most important general tip I can give you if you wanna step up your painting.
Man, I love your dungeon.

Thanks KK, i know i still have room for improvement :)
Here is my barbarian. Again i got inspiration from ampersand using the same barbarian as his, with the space wolves head he used. Hes a multipart mini, and i had a breakage issue after i painted him. Thus it spoilt him abit when i re glued his arms back on! I do like this mini, hes very Heroquest.

Re: Sparky's Stuff

Postby Sparkymark » May 3rd, 2016, 4:11 pm

I've not had much hobby time lately, but i have been able to make a batch of 'open' doors. It takes 4 casts from the hirst arts mold to have enough pieces to build each doorway. I cut out the blacked out doorways from a piece of thin black plastic then cut a door in half to give the impression of the door open without sticking to far into the room/passage.
Any ideas to improve on these are welcome.
