The variants above are a bit outdated. The orange and purple dice, in particular, are differently distributed as of earlier this year when I ordered from German Jack. I have a similar pic w/ updated dice on my HQ blog. See the very end of this post: https://evilwizardcharacter.wordpress.c ... he-heroes/

That was an excellent read. I have toyed with the idea of a powerful Hero figure that can't heal before, but always decided that such a restriction was too much.

On-topic, the new distribution of the orange dice displeases me - only two double-skulls, and no singles? That single change makes the oranges, purples and blacks all roughly equal to each other (although, due to variance favoring the attacker, oranges are still slightly ahead of the rest). As for defense, two double-shields is certainly better on average than three single-shields as on the greens, but the poorer reliability hurts.

I went with a skeletal wyvern for the black shield in the end.

I like the use of a dragon as the image for the black shield. I only wish the shield itself was a little more jagged, or otherwise differently-shaped from the white shield. Having differing shapes as well as colors makes the shields easier to tell apart at a glance.

Heh, you make it sound like it's somehow fixed that way - I can put anything on the dice you want - these are just my preferences. Though I might make the shield a bit more jagged. But the stark white vs red & black makes the outcome obvious even with a squint, I think. ;)

More like this... but as a designer I know everyone has their own aesthetic, their own way of wanting things to be.

So we will offer various shield shapes and designs but also custom-design options. That reality is less than a week away.

Hey there, these dice are nice, but the detail and effort you've put into creating new characters and the artwork on the cards is just awesome mate, very impressed. Inspired even.
Double symbols on dice are an interesting idea - I'll look into that.

Double icons look best if they can overlap a little bit. EWC's link demonstrates this on the orange and purple dice at the bottom of his post.
Or take a look at these PNGs for a demonstration:

Also, let me take the soapbox for a minute and say a thing. I love that there are so many people producing accessories and pieces for HeroQuest and would definitely buy some stuff if I weren't so broke right now. So just keep on doing what you all are doing and maybe I'll throw some coins your way when I finally have more money. (I wonder how many other people are thinking the same way?)

Not a problem, I can make that happen - and I'd agree, there are a huge amount of people creating all sorts of really awesome pieces, a lot of them here in this forum, i.e. drathe, toco, yourself, and numerous, numerous others have all contributed some really ace pieces and additions. I'm looking into PDF's for my site but I am also setting up a freebies page.

Somehow half of this thread has disappeared.

Just in short, I feel that there is not a lot to be added beyond the colored dice from Germany. Maybe if you manage to have some cobinations he is not offering, and if they really are HQ style, my interest awakes and I would buy some.
