The uses I have found so far for the dice:
Refreshed Heroes get to use a better dice set on their very first combat of a dungeon. (The reasoning being they are well rested.)
Throwing daggers that are slightly enchanted and are allowed to roll one dice that has a double skull on it. Thus allowing on a great hit for a dagger to do 2 points damage.
Magic weapons that allow a Hero to roll one of their dice as a more favorable dice.
Boss of the dungeon and the occasional Chaos Warrior are given more favorable dice for all rolls.
Heal potions. I like to have heal potions that roll for white shields. Some potions get to roll more favorable dice.

Edit to add:
I like to put a "Potion of Epic Fighting" in the loot some times. When drank this potion allows a hero to roll dice of their choice for all attack and defend rolls until no enemies are visible.

What I would love to have and they don't make:
A set with the following faces-
1 Black Shield, 2 Black Shields, 1 White Shield, 2 White Shields, 1 Skull, 2 Skulls

I think such a dice would be great for my game.

Cynthia - go to the link I posted above - custom game labs - as I said, they should be up and
running soon. You can make any die you want...different colors...rounded corners if you want...
and they etch the stuff into the die, instead of just printing it on with paint.

Sounds interesting in principle, but the description on the Kickstarteer Website is ... well ... minim.
Do you have any further information?
Can I choose the color?
What is the size of the dice?
And, most important, what is the price?
Do I have to order a minimum numer of dice?

The size of the dice, as I understand it, is standard die size. 16mm?? Not sure...they did not say it would
be anything off the wall, though...that much I remember.

Price - I am not sure. They haven't started actually selling yet. I'm just getting mine from backing the
kickstarter. As I said, they should be up and running soon - the last update I got was a month or two ago,
and they were looking to be ready by the spring, I think.

You can choose your color for dice, and for the fill of the graphics etched, as well, I believe. I don't believe
there was any minimum order that they were going to require - that could change once they start selling, I'm
sure.

Hello. Some interesting comments here on the dice system.

If anyone is interested, I'm about to design some custom D6 for HQ. They will be 19mm x 19mm x 19mm and plastic, with an inset for stickers to be inserted.

I aim to create:

x2 - light random wandering monster dice (yellow with specific creature in dark green)
x2 - heavy random wandering monster dice (dark green with specific creature in yellow).
x2 - random treasure dice (orange with black silhouette of item found)
x2 random trap dice (purple with trap marked in white)
x2 random weapon found (blue with weapon in tan)
x6 - standard black shield, white shield, skull skull dice (black on white & beefed up a little in appearance)
x2- stronger enemy dice with two black shields, two white shields, two skulls (white print on blood red)
x2- powerful evil dice with three black shields, one white shield, one poison attack, one critical blow (black print on gold)
(+ 120 dice stickers + a few spares in case magic happens)

( I need 2 of most because of the complexity of tile choices I have)

I have the ability to offer dice in the following colours: purple, yellow, red, green, orange, blue, black, white

But can also custom design the stickers that go onto them

That kit above, I can do for $20 USD + postage. And I'll custom design dice with your preference of coloured dice, sticker and/or your images for an extra $30 USD.

I'll post some dice images when I'm closer to making them available from my site.

Oh, also thought to add a 'decay' set of dice - kind of like a manual countdown timer to help the GM to record durations of things.

I.e. spell gets cast that lasts 4 turns. GM keeps track with decay dice, by rotating it from 4 to 1 as the heroes take their turns.

I've opted for a Gryphon on the White Shield.
A more realistic White Skull.
& am toying with a couple of Black Skull images.

I am 100% behind the Gryphon image on the White Shield, as it reminds me of my old Legos, who also had gryphon shields. I'm indifferent to the Skulls being literal Skulls, I suppose. I think the Black Shield needs to be a little more recognizable as a shield, however, and I think it should be a little rounded. (Of the two options you presented, though, I think I prefer the one with horns.)

Hey Mohawk, thanks for stopping by - just toying with concepts at the moment for a private personal set. I get what you mean by the black shield looking more like a shield - I'll mock some up. I'll post my full set later on.
