Treasure card web and/or local app

Postby reddoby » June 13th, 2014, 4:10 pm

I just finished writing this web app that simulates the treasure card deck.. The cards and treasure deck rules come from the advanced imperial academy cards and rulebook. I plan on adding the ability to add treasure cards from other quest packs, just haven't gotten to that point yet. How do I go about sharing the files? I don't see an upload button anywhere. This app works directly on your pc from any web browser or install on any webspace to use online. Or you can just use the public link supplied here. http://www.s487856674.onlinehome.us/Treasure_Deck.html Can someone please help with pointing me to the right place to share this? Thanks.

Hah, this works very well :)
Nice work! I was wondering where those extra cards were from. Imperial Academy!
If you can turn this into an Android/iOS app, you'd really have something cool! You could use this on your phone at the table.

Very nice.
Would like an option to draw cards without re-shuffling the deck every time.
Have a look ;)

I'm curious about the timer...It's a little distracting and I'm not sure what it's for. Otherwise...BRILLIANT!!!! Please look into making an android/IOS app or possibly including it in a "Zargon program" a program with die rollers (possibly customizable) monster stats, etc.

Thanks for the feedback. We have also enjoyed using it very much. It saves us a lot of setup and speeds up the game!!

I made the shuffle option so that you didn't mistakenly hit the button twice and draw two cards. Plus I wanted to simulate a real deck as much as possible.

The timer is there so that you can add bonus cards at set intervals per your rules...
I like the idea of a Zargon app but am not familiar with Android/IOS coding. It is definitely worth looking into.

I was thinking more like PC program. I have some ideas if you have some programming expertise...

WOW, that was a large selection! 78 cards total, with lots of repeats of classic cards, but lots of neat new cards added. I end up downloading the deck. (although, I have no idea what the Spirit Darts do)

I can see the day coming when old men like us will be playing Hero Quest entirely on Tab/Pads and smartphones. It will be nice for long trips or inpromptu games. I also expect we, as gaming grognards, will always insist on bringing out the board, whenever feasible. Our grandchildren will think us quaint. Yeah. You can do a lot with computers now, like make lots of customizable 3D props, custom random generators and even apps that can handle and run complex combat mechanics, all without having to pull out boxes full of boards and miniatures, bags of dice, and stacks of books. As it is, MMORPGs have been overtaking traditional tabletop RPGs, and more and more tabletop gamers have been going with online apps (chat, skyp, Roll20, etc.). And yet I'm too use to pulling out physical props and manually running a board game or RPG the old fashion way.

As someone who runs games online with Roll20 (I actually run HeroQuest this way!), I can tell you that each version has its pros and cons. Running and playing games online is sometimes easier, but nothing will ever replace the experience of gathering around a table with other people to play a game on a tabletop. I don't think mumorpugs will ever take the place of tabletop RPGs.
