Good to know, I'm really leaning towards the Vinyl now, though I do personally prefer the mousepad, I can get going with a lower order count, shipping will be less expensive, and I can run more variety with the vinyl.
If things go smoothly, I'll probably run 4 different designs, two RPG designs and two Skirmish Designs. So the two above are RPG designs, Skirmish designs will be designed with an open layout, limited walls and such, better for games like Super Dungeon Explore, Ninja All-Stars, Song of Blades and Heroes, or other games that are more set up as fantasy skirmish games and less exploration based.

I'm really excited about the Egyptian Map, I did some more work last night.

I like the concept of a Mousepad-design because of it's non-slip properties combined with being bit thicker base. However, I think vinyl could work pretty much just as well, and as mentioned the graphics might turn out crisper.

Will these be boarder-less? If so I can see some opportunities for mixing and matching a couple of different maps with similar color schemes simply by rotating them and placing them edge to edge. That is, so long as the print is accurate along the edges. Any info on that? Can these be made to match up regardless of orientation?

Keep the ideas going I like where this is headed.

I would probably be a buyer with Vinyl Maps. a nice scrim back and blackout and I bet they'd be great.

As there is potential for print error along the edges, mine are currently actually 22" square with a border. However, nothing would stop you from cutting the border away. I'm sure you could easily line up multiple maps. Nothing on the edges would prevent you from lining up multiple maps, though the first two will be of different environments.

If you decide on vinyl. The printers I use: halfpricebanners.com can print trim to the arts edge.

Heroic maps recently put out a winter fortress series....can't remember the name off-hand. But the 4 line up nicely on the vinyl prints I did.

I forgot where I was going with that.....

Bannersonthecheap is also a good source for doing it yourself. A lot of the companies like that aren't great for bulk though. Though I'll check them out, I want to consider all my options I can.
I bought the same map though from Heroic Maps, I love their stuff.

Tomb Map complete (well, I fixed the one water error in the small room)

And began working on the Dungeon map again, I broke away from the Heroquest theme a bit more to make it a bit more interesting.

I got a picture of the prototype Egyptian mat today, hopefully I'll have it on hand next week.

I also started working on the Lava Caverns Battle Mat, this mat is set up different as it is for more skirmish games, not really RPG and Boardgames. But I suppose you could find use for it that way.

Looking pretty cool. I'd still love to see at least two boards for each theme. i.e. same color schemes but different layouts--just to add one more layer of variation for changing up missions/ quests.

I'd also dig seeing some cool Sci-Fi layouts, Sewers, etc...

Regardless, at this point I'd be likely to support something like this based on the preview art alone. Nicely done.

Well, I'll probably draft up a few more boards on each theme for the RPG/Heroquest style mats. The Skirmish mats will likely be one offs.
I appreciate the feedback guys!

Here is the first pass at the Ice Grotto Mat. This one is a bit of a crap shoot whether it''ll go into the final set or not. I have a forest mat I want to try as well.
