Descent, both first and second editions should work.

First Quest (1995) is an often overlooked option for some reason. Not only does it have Heroquest compatible maps, but includes a miniature option not available on Dragon Strike (1993): The Cleric.

If you are feeling really old school (and you are feeling lucky) you might want to get the Games Workshop Dungeon Floor Plans:

Mage Knight Dungeons (2002) has some nice, spacey modular boards (plus minis, furniture, etc.) perfectly suitable for Heoquest:

Hybrid (2003) tiles/boards (and other components) are also pretty good.

The art is beautiful even if would become somewhat abstract when brought into the Heroquest universe, as it would have a science fictiony flavor suitable for not all quests. The other caveat would be that it might not be that easily found or would tend to be expensive... Except that with today's Heroquest market prices the Hybrid base game probably costs about the same as Heroquest:

Dungeon Planner Set 1: Caverns of the Dead (art by Gary Chalk no less!)

Dungeon Planner Set 2: Nightmare in Blackmarsh (1984)

The Halo Interactive game allows for modular 3D terrain. Probably not as cheap now nor as easy to find as it once was:

Wow, I love those Dragon Strike art maps! And the Gary Chalk ones are cool too! Are there any high res scans online?

They are expensive, but I promise to scan and post if I ever get them. I do not own them as of now, that is all I could find online.

Some of these might be good for Heroquest: this is my Reign of Terrain campaign on kickstarter.

PS - I intend to create dozens and dozens of new rooms for HQ this year and finish Project Chthonic the customizable HQ-compatible board with 1.25" squares.
I may redo the Heroquest Chest and Superchest too to match the HQ style better.

Cheers,
SA
