Chaos Sorcerer suggested painting

Postby tasoe » October 4th, 2011, 6:49 am

Has anyone seen anywhere online a picture of the Chaos Sorcerer painted like the image shown on the side of the box of Hero Quest?
I've search everywhere on the net when trying to decide how I was gonna paint him and never found anything like it. If anyone has come across a picture of him painted like the box please let me know where it is.

Anyway since it looked a bit difficult I decided to paint him this way:

But then I thought, what the hell, I should try and paint him like shown in the box as I kinda feel this is the original colours that he's meant to be painted.
I will post the result probably tomorrow (peharps today if I find the time).

Did a search for painted minis the other day and remembered seeing excatly what you described. It's some paint blog or something:

The mini looks nice, but I thought Tasoe was looking for the color scheme of the "original art", which would be:
- the Box cover (The Sorc is on the right top of the stairs, his cloth seems to be black)
- the GM's screen (can see it in the picture above)
- the Adventure Design Kit book cover (there the cloth is defnitely purple and bears a yellow sign on the chest)
- on the side of the inner box, some examples for painted figures are printed. Iknow for sure that the chaos sorc was among them, but I don't remember the color scheme (and pictures in the internet are to small).
- I don't know, but perhaps he also appeared in teh computer games.
Have a look ;)

This is exactly what I meant. That blog that Goblin-King mentioned has the same colour scheme as in the box and it is the only one I've ever seen on the net. It is pretty difficult to paint one in such colours because of all the little details but I think it's worth it. Took me 2 whole jobless days to complete it and tomorrow I will post mine. I think it's about as good as the one pictured above. I'll try to take a good photo.

You mean these? I did my best at photographing the box and photoshopping them together. Can't get a nice background without lots of cutting techniques, so this is my lazy version:

These are the ones! thanks for the reference. I'm trying to paint a chaos warrior now and it's hard looking at the box every now and then. I now have the image on my screen. So much easier.

OK, understand now. Was at the job when posting yesterday, so I could not look at my own box.
Looks really demanding... see forward to see your result!
Have a look ;)
