I am brainstorming some ideas for a homebrow gameplay mechanic. Does anyone use tokens to track potions, health points, etc?

First, I'd like to craft miniature potion bottles for health, mana/stamina/etc.

Second, do use health counters? I want to try using red tokens corresponding to health points. As heroes take damage, throw red tokens into a discard pile (shot glass).

Thirdly, turn tracking. I want to spice things up and create a turn tracking system with rules to draw an "Event Card" every X amount of turns.

I use platic crystals to track MP and BP (and a third thing I add for advanced play). I've got cards for the rest.

I use the Heart Coins from Campaign Coins to track BP

Where the GC numbers in HeroQuest no so granular, I'd have splurged on Campaign Coins to track them long ago!

Being a cheap and stingy old man, I use 2x4 Lego bricks to keep track of Heroes' Body Points, and give them little wooden counters if they lose Mind Points.

Given how expensive Lego is, you're actually being really swish, and my £2 of plastic bits is the cheap option!

I use the plastic shield decorations from GW shields. Mostly skulls and sun-faces.
