I view them as a guard patrol the hq elf is the scout the sergeant has two pips on his breastplate two regular guards with 1 pip and a mage for magical support

Cool set of Northmen! I've got Talisman envy right now, that fig looks great in the group. Swapping in a battle axe is very effective for providing variation. I'd say repeat that trick with a different rotation on the grip if you have another weapon lying around.
