If you are looking to do stuff cheaply and fast, a SLS powder based machine (like what you are using at Sculpteo) would be good, but its an investment. You are not going to get a good result with most printers under $30k since minis require a support material else there will be a lot of cleanup.

Uhmm... OK, that prooves what I always thought. Printing myself is way out of my range. 30k dollars... Never had so much money in my live...
Well, having them printed by third party companies worked pretty well so far, so I will stay with it.

You could always cast your skellys in resin?

Nope. That's all this project is about. I always thought of possiblilities of making skeletons with a hollow ribcage of real, separate ribs. There may be ways to cast them in a really complicated mold (I've thought of some), but 3D printing gave me the first practical possibility to make what I wanted.
