Have a look at all the monsters on my blog.. And all o the descent mini's they are pretty much 80% just base colours and army painter dipped. They are what i would class as tabletop standard. And as you say any paint is better than no paint at all. I would definitely like to improve my painting as im sure we all would..even the best you see around. The painters themselves would probably critique what they painted. Even though we as onlookers may find them flawless so i guess im allowed to be my biggest critic

Mine know what happens (across any game) if the painted miniatures don't get fawned over. There's a reason I encourage players playing D&D to have friends and families for their characters--hostages.

Also, its actually hard to mess up a paintjob, I think. A lot of people mistake the craft for being like drawing with erasing. Not so. With painting, you can always cover up your mistakes--especially when painting terrain. You can layer drybrushing until the end of time, practically. Eventually, the blended colors will look good.

I've read your quest for the barbarian on your blog - just one question. You write that the head is taken from a space wolf sprue - can you tell us which one?

looks like quite a few of those heads would be alright on a barbarian, daggers, maybe some of the shoulderpads and a few other things too.

ok got some updates. firstly i fixed these skeletons up about a year ago. but recently rebased them. they are the first of my reworked monsters for heroquest. so though i would post them up.

I have pure envy over that. I especially like the skeleton with the hole in his skull. You do good work. Tell us how you do it.
