For skeleton ribs they can be a a bit tricky. If I do thin the paint down for the ribs it is very minimal. I've found that the thicker paint makes painting just the top of the ribs a lot easier. After every rib I just wash my brush off and get fresh paint, has helped me keep mine a lot cleaner. Those orcs look like murlocks to me, in the good way. Nice bronze gargoyle!

I do that with a lot of mine that I('ve) paint(ed). Give it a couple weeks before you decide. If you're confident you can do better then go for it. On some of my own I've told myself to accept it's the best I can do and to move on and work on others, just consider them done and varnish them and move on.

With Skeletons it's like this: they're not supposed to look clean, which is why I used three washes on the orange cloth areas. I'm content with the drybrushing the bones and one or two layered highlights, but I'll probably do it again, maybe even completely layering from VMC Green Ochre through Buff with a dark brown wash.

I used a black wash/shade to clean up skeleton ribs. Get only a little on the brush at a time and basically fill the offending space between trying not to get any where it's not needed and without it running off. Let it pool in the crevasse. If there isn't too much, the surface tension should keep it there. You can Wick up any excess, but it works better if you use multiple coats anyway. A similar method works well as part of my over all wash/shade process. Fill in the parts I want it the most, borders and such, let it dry, and then do a light coat over everything.

Nice job. I especially like what your doing with the Orc skin. The shaman's source-highlighting is very tricky, I'm sure. I only tried it once with yellow light and achieved only mediocre success. My feeling is the blue is put on too heavily. The straight, middle fold with less blue highlight works best. Is it merely reflecting the other folds? I suppose something between the middle and outer folds is the idea, but I'd have to see it. The camera is way close, so the blue probably has a better effect on the table than I can picture. I usually don't include enough contrast, so keep that in mind when reading this.

What hit me about the Skeletons wasn't the bones, but the blue shields. Matching the eye colors to the equipment keeps things tied together and simple, but it also made the necromantic glow less magical, in my opinion. I'd keep the eyes, but change the shields to something a bit warmer. Of course, you could reverse things if you prefer the lapis-lazuli look of equipment and go for a more common, green necromantic eye-glow.

You could be right. Main reason for the blue equipment is tying together the colors, but I see what you mean. The eyes lose a bit of interest when the color is repeated.
But there's also orange in the cloth and the rust on the weapons. The only third color I can imagine fitting both would be a dark brownish red for the shields and simultaneously going even more yellow/orange on the rust.
I really don't wanna change the eyeglow color. There was somehting in that Formula P3 Arcane Blue that I haven't seen in any other color and I want to keep it cold and harsh, something like in the Game of Thrones TV show.

The shaman looks very light in the picture. Everything's dulled down in reality. I might put in a little additional white in the original light source and see how I fare after the varnishing.

I really appreciate all those comments and constructivism. I wanna improve and this helps a lot.

So, I managed to paint again after an extended 8 month hiatus.

I read that shamans in most cultures are known as "they who walk in the sky."
Just like the shaman hero, Luke Skywalker.
Reminds me of those Joseph Campbell videos... and Carlos Castaneda. And of course, your favorite orc, the Orc Shaman.
And CP spending August four inches off the floor!
