I don't look at this thread too often, so this comment comes quite late, I believe.

someone mentioned moving parts or the whole of the inn to something like google...

I would vote against that, if we were to put it to a vote. Especially google. Google seems to change things
way to often...just look at the several changes they've made to their email in just the last year or so. And as
far as moving the website somewhere else...other companies change things and drop things often. Again, look
at google...they made changes to their google groups, and then dropped them completely, as far as I know.

I think it would be safer just to leave the inn right where it is...that way we all know nothing will happen to it.

I don't see the need to change anything, especially as radically as putting it on Google. There are really only a couple fundamental things this place needs do. Reactionary policy changes must only be made if done after consideration greater than, or equal to, that which went into the incumbent policy.

My bookmark is the "Board Index".
Usually I just skip fast forward to "View new posts".
At the instant of my clicking I spot some amazing picture in the random images section.
But it's too late...
If I go back a page they are already randomized again... That cool image is gone forever...

If there were a way to prevent this I would be truly content with this homepage.

The most annoying part is that after i skip back and the images are re-randomized, I can skip back and forth and they WON'T randomize again!

Hello guys ! As much as I love our Inn website, I would like to migrate it to something more modern like google site.

Like some others, I totally disagree.
So totally that I may use some harsh words, so I want to make it clear before that this is not personal and that I like most of the stuff you, Maike, put up here at the Inn very much.

This way, we could easy set up new sections on the website

I don't see how this is not the case with the current version.
Make it. Upload it. Done.
Everyone who is interested in maintaining a website at all should be able to do this. It's basic. Learning the proprietary system of Google or another fancy hosting company is not. And when we are not satisfied with Google, we'll have to learn yet another system. HTML on the other hand is universal.

... and allow multiple people to update the website at the same time because google sites, likewise google docs is collaborative : this means several people can edit one same document at the same time!

If drathe is willing to let others edit the website, he just has to share the ftp password. Several people can of course edit the same document, just not at exactly the same minute (but this would be ratehr confusing anyway).

Looks not bad, but somewhat generic and, to my opinion, not as good as the Inn.

Again, contributers can be everyone to whom drathe gives accesion, if this is an ftp password or a google account is unimportant.

This is a *tasty treat* argument.
HTML is really, really simple.
People who are not even willing to have a look at HTML should stay away from the net.
Here at work I'm forced to use online editors to maintain two of our websites, and it constantly pisses me of how coplicated it is to do anything but plain text. Many things won't work at all. The functions of the editors may look great at first glance, but they are still very limited. Most of them you'll never need, and the things you really need (and could easily do yourself in an open HTML environment) are just not possible.
Learning how to make a simple website with (hyper-)text and pictures in HTML will take you a hour or so if you are a total beginner, it's much easier than learning the handling of any online editor. And after you have started, you can easily build up on this, learning eventually to do everything you can imagine on a website.

-The website uses so called module or blocks if you prefer. Much like a Lego game, you can easily set up several module together (text, image, video, lists, comment sections, etc)

What's that good for? It provides you with a layout of the components of your page, but in the same step limits your imagination. You can do every layout you can imagine in HTML, and it's really not dificult.

-Possibility to set up a wiki !

Google has some nice services, but one of the key concepts is that they con be easily integrated in any website. When you make a personal map in GoogleMaps (i. e. showing the residences of HQ players), you will find advise on the very GoogleMaps site how to integrate it in your own website.

Perhaps you should consider giving up internet as it is too *modern* to you.

Did you look at the inn's website ? Common seriously ? almost as old as heroquest. I challenge you to find anything coded like that today.
The website needs a deep re-lifting, that's a fact.

Now go on and troll again.
