A place to upload new stuff, you want us to share but you have made it very annoying to do so.

I would like this as well. There is a new version of the forum software that I believe has this option either built in, or available as an add-on. I'm not yet willing to upgrade the forum yet, as there are still several modifications we're using that haven't been released as add-on in the new version yet. One important one that we're using, the dice mod, will never be released. (it's not even 100% on the current version and the mod author has abandoned it)
I've worked on converting our Inn theme to the new version when it's ready enough for us to switch and there's only a few minor tweaks I've yet to work out.

The longer I think about this, the less I want it. Likes and +1s here will be so rare that for the author it will be underwhelming and disappointing.
See the gallery. The grading and commenting system has almost become a farce. Grading in particular is dangerous for the meek of heart and I'm not a fan of Likes either.
Or... there will be so many +1s and so few real contributions that the whole forum slowly succumbs to silent anonymous members. We have easily over a thousand now and how many do we really know?
I hate the f***book system and the ebay and youtube systems, too, come to think of it.
I, for one, strongly suggest not jumping on that train even though I would have +1ed saj's suggestion when first I read it.
I don't think I'm the only one here, but I'm also a fan of speaking out if the opinion is strong.

It's in heavy use in the play by post forum.
It's something that is actually useful in practise, though the handling could be more convenient.

What I would like to see is a function to show in which forum / thread a member is online at the moment.
When I come to the inn and see someone is online, I may want to find what (s)he is reading at the moment.

This is already available. At the bottom of the Board index click Who is online
