But I'm always interested in what my HQ homies think. Is this just more of the same being pumped at us? Yet another skirmish game poorly disguised as an 'exploration' game?

I'm inclined to agree. Many games that have bubbled up on kickstarter over the years had me very enchanted. I've bought a few.

One one hand, it's nice to see more competing games coming to the fore. Many of which really are a most decent quality. There's a greater chance of that one being even more awesome to play than HQ.

On the other hand, I've a feeling the market is flooding. Bad. And we've only seen cracks in the dam that has yet to explode.

I really need to lose my weakness to be easily enchanted by every new fantasy themed board game kickstarter throws at us on a weekly basis! I just keep hoping to see that one that breaks the mold and throws down an even more immersive and explorative yet easy to play and learn experience than anything we've seen yet. But they're always just another variation on tactical skirmish games with some very weak 'exploring' element thrown in.

I have looked at it here and there, not exactly following it's progress but certainly aware of it. I never played the Video Game, so there is no nostalgia component for me. The minis look pretty cool though.

Fortunately for me, a buddy of mine is already backing it, so I'll get to play the game eventually without spending the cash.

For myself, I am holding out for Massive Darkness, which is the RPG-lite Dungeon Crawler coming from CMoN and GG. That will probably be my last big game purchase for the year... Unless someone comes out with a REALLY good-looking Sci-Fi crawler of course...*Chuckle*...
