assassinorum execution force board game

Postby Patroclus » Sunday May 10th, 2015 3:30am

[Topic moved from the Pub on 5/24/15]

This is a new board game from Games Workshop. It's a fast(2 hours per game) tactical dungeon crawler that can be played as solo with no GM, with a very interesting gaming system and I think it has come to stay. If you like instances of mmos on the pc (like aion or warcraft) you will love it.

Take a look at this video I've made and leave some thumbs up. It's only the 1 part of a long video, and I will upload the rest if the views are many. (it took me 24hours for a 20mins of video!)

ps: if you like it, buy it now because it's a limited edition

From games workshop... I'm surprised. Thought their days of bringing out new boxed games was over.

They are losing more and more players to skirmish games.
Now they wanna bring in more people from the board games to ridiculously overpriced collectible miniatures.
Change of CEO (or something similarly high up the stairs), by the way. Might have something to do with that.

Given how there is really only one scenario which changes randomly a little bit, they are going to have to release some expansions to make it worthwhile. They seem to be banking on everyone buying it for the rare models (which are really nice) and ignoring the absurd price. I'm not even sure what the intended buyer is - people who are great at doing models but don't like complex rules? Or are they just narrowing it down to just a few fanboys to get more playtesting on the game before doing a full run at a more widely accessible game? In a market that already includes several dungeon-crawler games, it's far too little. It should really be a simple game with one-piece models and a lot of variety.

The target group are people who haven't been sure if they want to go into tabletop gaming and miniature collecting (the two main output areas of GW).
The game deliberately bores fast, then you go "But the minis..." and hopefully spread your hobby and your money into Nagash-the-plastic-figure-that-costs-as much-as-a-whole-battlegroup-or-warband-from-a-dozen-games-I-could-name.
