Well there's no reason you can't play a Vassal online HQ knightcrawler! Start a thread that proposes a meet up time and date! It will take some coordinating given all the different time zones, but HQ in the early A.M. is better than NO HQ at all!

No heros in Zombie Survival - the only thing I could think to add is an extra die or two for someone with training vs. your average joe. You must roll dice into the box top and try to hit the zombie in the circle surrounding its head, or else do 6 dmg total to its body elsewhere...

I feel very lucky ;)

Back to topic... Are there no hero characters?

The empire will be the enemy so the Hero's will be boss monsters.

@el_flesh:
no, I'm not one of the many unlucky gamers in my vicinity probably still hiding in their closets.
I have my GF and her daughter which means games for me.

But, you know, the other guys, who I don't know, who just don't put it on their shirts that they are nerds and geeks...
I feel for them.

Last Night on Earth by Flying Frog Games has more Hero flavor like you describe. It's still a boardgame, but there are different scenerios to play that add a bit more RPG flavor. Check it here and also here.

just saw this on kickstarter. man, I wish I had more cash. It even includes the first deal, if you missed that one (except for the exclusive limited edition minis from that first KS sadly).

current amount of minis included:

Image

Pledge Levels:
- inmate: $100,- + $25 shipping outside USA = $125,- makes 157 minis at $0,627 each (or $0,796 each = €0,62)
- Fugitive: $150,- + $35 shipping outside USA = $185,- makes 200 minis at $0,75 each (or $0,925 each = €0,72)
- Raise the Dead: $220,- + $45 shipping outside USA = $265,- makes 271 minis at $0,812 each (or $0,978 each = €0,76)

So that's a relatively good deal, not only for the boatload of minis, but also the awesome game itself of course. It's a coop game, so that's a big plus in my book. Still in doubt if I should pledge.
Apparently, they can ship from the UK, meaning the shipping cost you pay is with import taxes included. So that means NO additional costs, which is a big plus.
