Sorry, I haven't been following like I was. I've been busy lately. I can't get the quest you posted to download so the text is legible. It looks like it was saved too small or it was down-rezed too much...

Just read this thread for the first time - well, not really read through it, but just some of the quests in your (Nephew's) post from monday. I think there are some really great ideas, expecially The body thief and The cure. Infact I like them so much that I find it a pity that they are restricted to players who have the dragon strike board and monsters. I'd really like to see a version of The cure that can be played with the standard HQ material. How about using Zombies instead of Werewolfes? They would be the Voodoo kind of Zombies - poisoned and enchanted by the witch doctor into mindless servants, but not, well, rotting.
Have a look ;)

Is anyone else having this problem? I have no clue why if so. I used heroscribe and Quest Maker almost exclusively. I did post one over a year ago which I put together with GIMP, and that one was unreadable. Please make sure that's not the one you are looking at.

There are some interesting game mechanics to exploit here in some cases. The Cure certainly proposes a challenge most people don't have experience with. With HQ rules it is particularly troublesome since you could kill an innocent monster potentially in a single attack. In DS you always deal 1 damage at a time. Otherwise I don't know of any other HQ quests where the rule is "don't fight back".

I'm excited with how far I am. Updates to come later this week.
Sure it's pretty scary when the witch lord returns but what you should really be afraid of is "Resurrection of the Witch Lord". Resurrected baddies always come back more threatening than ever, usually kind of demonic with wings and horns and hell fire to announce their arrival. Think Gannondorf or Mother Brain from Super Metroid.

Good. I was worried that something went wrong and I would have to remake all the quests again.

Sorry, it is taking me a while to get back. My nephew was around all week, now more family is around for the weekend. But note, I haven't vanished again.

Nephew of Mentor wrote:I fixed the errors pointed out to me and also rearranged some furniture(I realized the castle isn't always the same castle even though the city is always the same city). I will upload photos tomorrow, as well as a buttload of questions. But for appetizers, what do you think of my decision to change DS gargoyles to imps? I initially also changed the giant to a golem, though I am rethinking that. Still, compared to the ATOH ogres, I think the giant might not measure up both in stats and stature. He really isn't all that big, so I don't know.

I like the imp idea to differentiate the Gargoyle as the more powerful monster and to justify the different mini. As for the giant, the stature is a real problem, though the stats are a bit weak, as well. He ain't nowhere near 10' tall, especially next to HQ Heroes. The Battlemasters mighty ogre would serve better as a giant model. He needs to be renamed. Maybe Stone Ogre, Half Giant, or Ogrekin.

Nephew of Mentor wrote:I was also thinking of removing the ability to search for treasure in an outside setting, just to simplify borders.

This thread offers some ideas.

Nephew of Mentor wrote:Quest 2 is here and up for review. I think I'm going to tackle the solo quest next. Let me know if you have any thoughts on this quest. Here you go!

A. Change orcs > Orcs. I assume you'll include cliff rules in the rules supplement. If not, you'll need to add some in here about climbing a cliff. LOS is less necessary.

B. Change orc > Orc.

C. Change gargoyles > Imps. Change "The gargoyles want to keep the treasure chest. If threatened or dealt one damage they surrender and flee. It is locked, trapped, and empty." > "The Imps want to keep the treasure chest. It is locked, trapped, and empty. If the Imp on the chest is threatened or dealt 1 BP of damage, it surrenders and then any surviving Imps flee."

D.Change "Inside one is a random draw from the potion deck. One contains 140 gold coins. One contains a Ring of Seeing." > "Inside the first chest opened is a random draw from the Potion deck. The second chest opened contains 140 gold coins. The last chest opened contains a Ring of Seeing."

E. Change bugbears > Bugbears. Change hero > Hero. Change "Chest contains 140 gold." > "This chest contains 140 gold coins."

Change "Wandering Monster in this Quest: Orc" > " :orc: Wandering Monster in this Quest: Orc"

Sorry, still delayed on getting back. Had to button up the house this weekend in preparation for winter, also trying the Euell Gibbons version of barbe de capucin to try to spice up my winter vegetables for free. Haven't vanished yet, haha.
